Galaxy S25 Ultra reduced by 9 million VND after two months

At dealers, the price of S25 Ultra is much different from the listed price of the company. Users can buy it at a price nearly 30% cheaper than before.

When it was first launched, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra cost 35 million VND for the lowest memory. Currently, users have several options starting from just over 25 million VND. This is a good price for users to own a Samsung flagship. However, early buyers are at a disadvantage when the phone has just been purchased at a deep discount.

The problem of balancing retail prices is still a big problem for Android brands in the high-end segment. Manufacturers have to balance brand positioning, customer benefits and competitive advantages. The situation of "unstoppable" price depreciation occurs, causing loss of user confidence.

Reduced 9 million VND after 2 months

Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 series on February 9, more than half a month after its launch. The pre-order period overlapped with the Lunar New Year holiday, longer than usual. When it first hit the shelves, the product cost 34 million VND for the Ultra version, with default memory.

However, after two months, this product has been deeply discounted by domestic retailers. The Gioi Di Dong, FPT Shop, and CellphoneS listed the device at 29 million VND, a direct reduction of 5 million compared to the price announced by the company. According to retailers, Samsung also implemented a discount on the weekend, reducing the price by another million VND. Thus, customers can buy this flagship for 28 million VND.

At some other retailers, the S25 Ultra has been discounted even further. According to a representative of Minh Tuan Mobile, the phone has now been reduced by 8 million VND compared to when it was first launched in Vietnam.

In particular, there are some dealers selling machines with activated electronic warranties for 24.5-25.5 million VND. These machines are still brand new, unused. However, on Samsung's system, they have been purchased and the warranty has been activated. This is a trick of retailers and distributors to ensure the performance commitment to the company.

Users who buy this type of product receive a new product at a low price. In return, the warranty period is not enough 12 months as per the manufacturer's policy. The loss depends on each device, but does not exceed two months, because the device was just launched in Vietnam after Tet. In addition to the Ultra model, the S25/S25 Plus is also adjusted accordingly, to avoid stepping on the same segment.

Difficult problem with flaghsip Android

Talking to Tri Thuc - Znews , Mr. Nguyen Lac Huy, representative of CellphoneS, said that the Android market has competition from many brands, forcing the company to adjust to maintain market share. In addition, Minh Tuan said the problem is also related to seasonality.

“After the massive launch, the S25’s purchasing power has shown signs of slowing down, a familiar phenomenon in the technology retail industry. The price reduction is both a mid-year sales boost strategy and an opportunity for users to easily access the product,” said a dealer in Ho Chi Minh City.

Currently, the main competitors of the Galaxy S25 in the high-end segment are the iPhone 16 Pro Max, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, Oppo Find X8 Pro. Of which, Apple made an adjustment in March, reducing the highest-end model by 3-4 million VND to 31-32 million VND. This price is cheaper than Samsung's listing price.

Xiaomi and Oppo flagships with competitive prices are rivals of the S25 in the high-end segment.

For Android competitors, Xiaomi 15 Ultra is listed at 35 million VND, but the opening sale has a deep discount of 8-9 million VND. The device created a lot of pressure for Samsung, when it attracted attention in the expensive Android segment, sold out during the opening sale.

Oppo Find X8 Pro is also highly appreciated. The Pro line is positioned lower than the Ultra, but this model is currently sold at around 25 million VND, quite competitive.

In fact, Samsung or Android losing value quickly has become a prejudice for Vietnamese users. Efforts to position the segment have failed when the market is fiercely competitive, and the segment has a low proportion.

Manufacturers are stuck in the middle of the problem of brand positioning, increasing sales and maintaining user rights. According to Mr. Huy, Android companies do not want to be inferior to Apple, so they often list prices as high as or equivalent to iPhone to affirm their brand. However, when sales are slow, dealers and companies secretly discount to attract customers and increase quantity.

This not only fails to position the brand as a high-end brand, but also puts early buyers at a disadvantage. In addition, customers gradually become skeptical and wait for discounts instead of paying when they like the product.

“Consumers tend to wait for discounts instead of buying immediately when the product is on sale, forcing retailers to be flexible with prices to stimulate demand, limit last-minute order cancellations and increase competitive advantage over other flagship models in the same segment,” said Minh Tuan Mobile.
