According to Passionate Geekz on October 14, a car owner in China posted a picture of his luxury SUV, with the roof covered with a three-color tarpaulin commonly used in construction. This has caused many interested discussions on social networking platforms.

According to the car owner, he spent 2.15 million yuan (about 7.55 billion VND) on July 1 to buy a Mercedes-Maybach GLS 480 at a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Suzhou city.
Just two days after receiving the car, the owner discovered unusual noises inside and water seepage in the A-pillar. After taking the car in for repair on July 11, the repair team removed many parts to check but still could not find the cause. However, when proposing to compensate for a new car, the owner felt disappointed because he was quoted a price of up to 800,000 yuan (equivalent to 2.8 billion VND).
Unable to accept the large depreciation after only a few days of driving, this customer decided to attract attention by pasting a three-color tarpaulin on the roof of the car and sharing the story on social networks in the hope of receiving support from the public and putting pressure on Mercedes-Benz to resolve the problem more satisfactorily.
Mercedes-Benz responded that they were working on the water leak issue and had been in constant dialogue with the customer. However, they said that they needed to disassemble some more parts to determine the exact location of the leak, but the owner did not agree, causing the handling to be at a standstill.
The car owner also attracted a lot of attention from the online community. His personal account named "Water Damaged Car Owner" increased by 180,000 followers in just 7 days. To increase its influence, this account also linked with the unit selling two products, three-color tarpaulin and adhesive tape, to encourage other Mercedes-Benz owners to do the same.

The car owner’s actions have inspired many others. This has led many Mercedes-Benz owners in China to also start pasting tri-colored tarps on the roofs of their cars to express their dissatisfaction with quality issues.
