Responding to Tuoi Tre Online on November 19, Mercedes-Benz Group AG said the approval process to extend the operations of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam (MBV) until 2030 is still being promoted.

German car company establishes new legal entity

However, to ensure continuous business operations, the company established MBDV as a completely independent and separate legal entity from MBV.

MBDV is licensed to operate from October 3, 2024 with a charter capital of 6.7 billion VND.

The company is owned by Mercedes-Benz AG and is headquartered on the 6th-7th floors of Friendship Building, 31 Le Duan, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

This is a different location from the MBV headquarters and factory in Go Vap district.

Notably, the legal representative of MBDV is Mr. Gerd Bitterlich, who is currently the general director of MBV from July 1, 2024.

With over 30 years of experience in sales and marketing in many markets such as Egypt, China, Korea and Luxembourg, Mr. Gerd Bitterlich continues to lead the brand's development in Vietnam.

Converting the model from assembly to fully imported?

Many opinions say that the plan to establish MBDV was proposed by Mercedes-Benz to prepare for the transition from assembling to importing complete vehicles.

Since 2020, Mercedes-Benz has deployed infrastructure to serve this orientation, including the Spare Parts Distribution Center in District 9 (HCMC) and the Vehicle Inspection & Completion Center in Long Hau (Long An).

Without commenting on this opinion, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam wrote about the new legal entity of the distribution company as a completely separate legal entity from Mercedes-Benz Vietnam (MBV). The decision to establish MBDV was made at the beginning of this year to maintain its presence in Vietnam.

“The establishment of this new legal entity is a strategic measure to ensure the maintenance of business operations in the Vietnamese market, and minimize potential risks,” the agency representative informed.

However, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam said that the company is not operating at the moment, but this is a backup plan to ensure seamless operations in Vietnam.
