Two consecutive forest fires at night in Quang Ninh

Preliminary information, at around 9pm on April 12, people discovered a fire originating from the west side of the hill near National Highway 18 in Dai Yen Ward, Ha Long City. After only a few minutes, the fire spread hundreds of meters due to strong winds.

Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (Quang Ninh Provincial Police) coordinated with local authorities to mobilize about 100 people, including professional firefighters, Forest Rangers, Ward Police, Dai Yen Ward People's Committee, grassroots security forces and people to the scene to deploy forces and vehicles to protect residential areas and create firebreaks.

However, at around 10pm the same day, the fire spread to the residential area, threatening to spread to the residential area. Firefighters and residents had to use all means to prevent the fire from entering the house.

At around 10pm on April 12, the fire spread close to residential areas, with the risk of spreading to residential areas.

By 11:50 p.m., light rain and wind had decreased in intensity and the fire was completely extinguished.

The forest in the area where the fire occurred is mostly pine and acacia trees that were broken down after Typhoon Yagi, so it is very flammable and difficult to extinguish when it burns.

At the same time , a forest fire also broke out in Khe Mu area, Binh Lieu town. The fire area was large but all were vegetation and fallen trees after the storm, there was no risk of the fire spreading to residential areas.

Upon notification, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department coordinated with local authorities to mobilize the unit's forces and coordinate the organization to create a firebreak to prevent the fire from spreading.

The fire area was mainly understory trees, trees that fell after Typhoon Yagi, then spread to about 300m2 of cinnamon trees planted 1-2 years old. The initial cause was determined to be a household burning understory trees to prepare for planting a new crop, however, due to strong winds, it was not controlled, leading to the fire spreading.

At about 6:30 a.m. on April 13, 2025, the fire was basically extinguished.
