Speaking at the first Vietnamese Fruit Festival taking place in Beijing, China, Deputy Director of the Asian Department (Ministry of Commerce of China) Ly Ngan expressed his hope that through this event, Vietnamese businesses will take advantage of the opportunity to promote their products and actively explore the Chinese market.

According to Mr. Ly Ngan, Vietnam and China are two countries connected by mountains and rivers, good comrades, good partners, good neighbors, and good friends. Under the strategic direction of the senior leaders of the two Parties and two States, the Vietnam-China cooperative relationship has achieved many good results in many fields.

Deputy Director of the Asian Department (Ministry of Commerce of China) Ly Ngan hopes that through the Vietnam Fruit Festival, Vietnamese enterprises will take advantage of the opportunity to promote their products and actively explore the Chinese market.

Economic and trade cooperation is the main driving force for Vietnam-China relations. Since 2004, China has been Vietnam's largest trading partner, and since 2016, Vietnam has been China's largest trading partner in the ASEAN region. In the first 8 months of 2024, bilateral trade turnover between China and Vietnam reached nearly 170 billion USD, up nearly 20% over the same period last year.

China is Vietnam's largest export market for fruits and vegetables. In 2023, Vietnam's agricultural exports to China accounted for 21% of Vietnam's total agricultural exports to the world. With the joint efforts of both sides, high-quality Vietnamese fruits such as durian, dragon fruit, bananas, and mangoes have been present in the Chinese market, while food products produced in Vietnam such as coffee and pho are also favored by many Chinese consumers.

Along with the comprehensive implementation of the RCEP agreement as well as the continuous upgrading of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, cooperation between the two countries in technology, standards, and agricultural production has increasingly developed in a deeper and broader direction.

This is the first time Vietnam has organized a fruit promotion event in Beijing. I hope Vietnamese businesses will take advantage of this opportunity and actively explore the Chinese market. I also hope that Beijing residents will seize this rare opportunity to enjoy delicious Vietnamese fruits and introduce this unique fruit flavor to their friends and relatives, ” said Mr. Ly Ngan.

The first Vietnamese Fruit Festival in Beijing took place from September 29-30, 2024, with the participation of many large agricultural enterprises in Vietnam and agricultural associations, importers, and suppliers from China.

The event was co-organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with the cooperation of the Vietnamese Embassy in China, the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association and Chinese partners.

With the theme “Vietnamese Fruits - Four Delicious Seasons”, the festival is one of the important trade promotion events for fresh fruits and vegetables and processed products from fruits and vegetables that have been officially imported into the Chinese market.

This is the first time a large-scale fruit festival has been held abroad, with the participation of many large Vietnamese agricultural processing and export enterprises, as well as specialized agricultural associations, importers, and suppliers from China.

The festival is expected to be one of the important trade promotion events to promote the export of fresh fruits and vegetables and processed products from fruits and vegetables that have been officially exported to the Chinese market.
