At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan informed about Kien Giang province's foreign affairs program. 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam - Indonesia strategic partnership, this is an opportunity for Indonesia and Vietnam to continue to deepen their cooperative relationship, contributing to creating new momentum to develop cooperation between the two countries more deeply and substantially.
Based on the positive foundations in the bilateral relationship, Kien Giang province has recently paid great attention to promoting cooperation with Indonesia. The import and export turnover between Kien Giang province and the Indonesian market has always been stable and increased gradually over the years. The total import and export turnover in 2022 reached 18.03 million USD; in the first 6 months of 2023, it reached 50.51 million USD.

In terms of tourism, Kien Giang province annually welcomes over 900 tourists from Indonesia, ranking 34th among the total international tourist markets to Kien Giang.
In addition to the economic and trade fields, cultural and educational exchange activities are also promoted by both sides. Currently, there are a number of Indonesian students studying in Kien Giang province. Kien Giang University signed a cooperation agreement with Medan Area University and Andalas University, Indonesia; through memorandums of understanding on the following contents: Exchange of students and lecturers; organization of scientific research activities; organization of international conferences and seminars...
Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan hopes that the Ambassador and members of the delegation will pay attention to supporting and connecting Indonesian enterprises to invest in clusters, industrial parks, agricultural and aquatic product processing factory projects; invest in developing commercial infrastructure in districts and cities in Kien Giang province. Continue to facilitate cooperation and exchange, strengthen links with universities in Indonesia to build joint training programs, organize seminars, and exchange students and lecturers.

With its existing strengths, Kien Giang province proposes cooperation and investment in developing high-tech marine aquaculture; investing in large-scale livestock farms from breeding (cattle, poultry), feed, breeding, processing... in Kien Giang province. At the same time, it hopes that Indonesia will create conditions for Kien Giang province's enterprises to access the Indonesian market for key agricultural and aquatic products, typical OCOP products, and handicrafts.
“Hopefully, the two sides will cooperate to build special products and services for tourists from Indonesia; support the training of human resources with skills, knowledge and understanding of culture, especially developing tourism products; build unique tourism models, especially developing marine and island eco-tourism associated with protecting tourism resources...”, said Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan.

Mr. Denny Abdi thanked the leaders of Kien Giang province for spending their precious time receiving the delegation and hoped that in the coming time, the two sides would strengthen cooperation to contribute to tightening the relationship between Vietnam and Indonesia in general and Kien Giang province in particular.
