The leader of the Lebanese militant group said on television that they carried out the attack "according to plan", denying the Israeli military's claim that their pre-emptive strikes had prevented a wider attack by the group.
Faced with the threat of war spreading and escalating across the Middle East and in support of its ally Israel, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has ordered the deployment of two aircraft carrier strike groups to the Middle East. Earlier, top US General CQ Brown arrived in Israel for talks with military leaders.

Mr Nasrallah spoke about 12 hours after the heaviest fighting between Hezbollah and Israel since fighting erupted alongside the Gaza war. He said the group had tried to avoid targeting civilians or public infrastructure in the attack, including Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.
He said the group's main target was a military intelligence base about 110 kilometers (68 miles) from Israeli territory - the deepest attack yet and just 1.5 kilometers (0.9 miles) from the city of Tel Aviv.
The group will evaluate the results of the operation, which was a retaliation for Israel's assassination of senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr on the outskirts of Beirut last month, the leader said. "If the results are not enough, we still reserve the right to respond another time," Nasrallah said.

He said Hezbollah fighters successfully launched more than 300 Katyusha rockets to distract Israel's Iron Dome defense system before deploying the drones to attack.
They included drones fired from the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon, he said. No drones or missile launchers were damaged in the preemptive Israeli strikes, he said.
But he admitted that the operation had been delayed for a number of reasons, including what he called the “mobilization” of Israeli and US military forces in the region.
With three deaths confirmed in Lebanon and one in Israel, both sides said they were satisfied to avoid further escalation for now.
