The 26th Beijing International Science and Technology Industry Expo is divided into six thematic exhibition areas, focusing on information technology, intelligent manufacturing, medicine and health, green dual carbon, digital economy as well as regional innovation and development.
This exhibition fair established the ASEAN exhibition area for the first time, with 5 countries including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam participating, thereby displaying and introducing scientific and technological innovation achievements and promoting trade and investment cooperation.
Within the framework of the 26th Beijing International Science and Technology Industry Expo held from July 13-16 in Beijing, the first China-ASEAN Science and Technology Trade and Investment Consultation Conference was held in Beijing.
The conference aims to promote the widespread application and development of scientific and technological innovation achievements in Southeast Asian countries, and promote cooperation and innovation between China and ASEAN countries.
ASEAN is one of Beijing's major trading partners. In 2023, Beijing's import and export turnover to ASEAN was 252.93 billion yuan (about 34.9 billion USD), second only to the EU and the US. As a prominent international event within the framework of this Science and Technology Expo, the China-ASEAN Science and Technology Trade and Investment Consultation Conference brings together government leaders and ministries and sectors from five ASEAN countries to share and exchange ideas, seek development opportunities in Southeast Asian countries, and strengthen the connection of the technology ecosystem between China and ASEAN countries.
Liu Meiying, Deputy Secretary General of the Beijing Municipal Government, said that Beijing has extensive strengths and advantages in the fields of intelligent manufacturing, new energy, medicine, etc.; wishes to strengthen industrial connectivity with ASEAN countries, promote deep integration between the two sides in the fields of industrial chains, supply chains, value chains, etc.; and at the same time, coordinate to build an industrial cluster with international competitiveness.
Mr. Jason Ng, CEO of MP Singapore - the co-organizer of the Conference, said that the organization of this Conference aims to build and connect the science and technology community between China and Southeast Asian countries.
