Ransomware attacks on the rise
According to cybersecurity experts, the first months of 2024 saw a sharp increase in the wave of ransomware attacks. Hacker groups have targeted many important targets such as government agencies, financial institutions, energy businesses, and many other industries.
VNPT with modern IDC system and team of engineers helps improve security capacity for businesses, ensuring the system is always best protected.
According to a recent study on ransomware, based on a survey of 5,000 IT managers in 14 countries, ransomware attacks account for 59% of businesses. Notably, 91% of these attacks occur outside of business hours.
In the first three months of 2024 alone, the National Cyber Security Center - NCSC system recorded more than 13,000 information security events related to ransomware on information systems.
Several large enterprises such as PVOIL or VNDIRECT, most recently in June 2024 Vietnam Post, have become victims of these attacks, causing serious property damage and disrupting business operations.
When businesses are forced to pay ransoms to hackers, it also sets a dangerous precedent, encouraging similar ransomware attacks in the future.
Ransomware prevention measures
According to a representative of VNPT Group - a unit that many customers, organizations and businesses are interested in and trust to choose to protect and store data, to prevent ransomware attacks, customers need to take the following measures:
System scan and cleanup: Check the entire system for malware, especially important servers.
Update software regularly: Make sure all software, operating systems and applications are updated to the latest version to patch security vulnerabilities.
Use security software: Install and maintain anti-virus software, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems (IDS) to prevent and detect attacks early.
Regularly back up data: Review backup systems, have a plan to completely separate the main system from the backup, and have a plan to back up the system regularly.
Develop an incident response plan: Have a cybersecurity incident response plan in place, including steps to take in the event of a ransomware attack, to minimize damage and restore operations quickly.
Training and awareness: Organize training sessions and seminars to raise information security awareness among employees. This helps reduce the risk of employees accidentally opening malicious emails or attachments.
Manage storage, backup data securely with services
Technology experts note that as ransomware threats become increasingly sophisticated and unpredictable, businesses need to raise awareness and strengthen their network security systems to protect their data assets from attacks. In addition, businesses also need to choose reputable IT companies to provide optimal solutions for infrastructure operations and data security to prevent ransomware attacks.
