On December 9, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong province said that it had sent a document to the People's Committee of Da Lat city and the districts of Lac Duong, Don Duong, and Duc Trong to survey and assess people's needs in implementing the greenhouse management project, promoting high-tech agricultural production to adapt to climate change.
Based on the survey, the department has the basis to propose a report to the Provincial People's Committee to consider the policy of developing a policy to partially support interest rates for people when borrowing capital.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requests the People's Committees of districts and cities to base on the Implementation Plan issued by localities to develop a roadmap and implementation plan to relocate greenhouses out of the inner city of Da Lat and residential areas, convert production without using greenhouses, and renovate greenhouses in the province.
In addition, survey and evaluate the loan needs of organizations and households to implement the above contents in the period from now to 2025 and to 2030.
The model of greenhouses and net houses for growing vegetables, flowers, tubers and fruits has developed strongly in many localities of Lam Dong province due to its outstanding economic efficiency.
However, experts all agree that , in recent times, the phenomenon of greenhouses in Da Lat has developed rapidly, causing great pressure on infrastructure, blocking drainage, and causing flooding during prolonged heavy rains. Not only that, Da Lat is lacking green space and water storage space.
Recognizing the negative impacts of greenhouses in the area, especially in Da Lat city, at the end of January 2023, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 178/QD-UBND approving the Project on greenhouse management, promoting high-tech agricultural production adapting to climate change by 2030 in Lam Dong province.
According to the decision, by 2025, the area of greenhouses for agricultural production in inner-city areas, inner towns, and residential areas in Da Lat city and neighboring districts will be reduced by 20%.
In particular, the inner city, inner city and residential areas in Da Lat city will gradually reduce and move towards no more agricultural production greenhouses compared to the current status in 2022.
In addition, by 2025, Lam Dong province will clear all areas of greenhouses built illegally on forestry land, high-voltage power grid safety corridors, irrigation works and water sources, historical sites, scenic spots, national defense and security works, etc.
