Cat Cat village seen from above like a landscape painting
From the center of Sa Pa town, follow the road towards Fansipan mountain about 3 km, you will reach Cat Cat village. The village is located in San Sa Ho commune, Sa Pa district, Lao Cai province.
This is where the Mong ethnic group lives. If a taxi driver tells all kinds of "disgraceful" stories to refuse to take you to Cat Cat village, the real reason is... it is too close from the center. Compared to other villages such as Ta Van, Ta Phin, Cat Cat is closest to Sa Pa town, only 3 km away and is the easiest to get to. Therefore, Cat Cat village attracts a lot of visitors during their Sa Pa tour.
The small stream winding around the village is a check-in highlight for tourists.
To save money and forget about the local taxi driver, we chose a motorbike for 150,000 VND/day and traveled freely. When we arrived at Cat Cat village in early summer, the weather was not hot but not cold either. But it was safer, less slippery when you have to walk down the slope with thousands of steps of all sizes and of course, not in any order.
The path down to Cat Cat village is full of shops selling specialties and local cultural clothing.
The tour guides here say that Cat Cat village in the fall is enchantingly beautiful with its brilliant golden rice fields, cool weather and rushing waterfalls around the island, creating a poetic, attractive and romantic space. In the winter, Cat Cat village is immersed in clouds and white snow. This is also a famous snow-watching destination in Sa Pa today, with misty clouds and white snow covering the whole area.
A poetic waterfall in the middle of the table
In the summer, when we arrived, the natural waterfalls were foaming white. Visitors were able to admire the beauty of the mountains and forests and the houses imbued with the Mong culture. Cat Cat village is quite large, and has two entrances, so visitors can forget the way if they are not careful.
Foreign tourists visit the house displaying the culture and traditional objects of the Mong people.
