Foreign Languages are expected to be added to the HSA competency assessment test of Hanoi National University from 2025, to expand the number of schools for admission.
Mr. Le Quan, Director of Hanoi National University, made the above proposal on February 28 when talking about the plan to organize a competency assessment exam from 2025 onwards. The Testing Center, Hanoi National University will coordinate with the University of Foreign Languages to develop the best plan for candidates.
Currently, the HSA exam is done on a computer, consisting of three parts with objective multiple choice questions (choosing answers), fill-in-the-blank questions in the fields of Mathematics (50 questions, 75 minutes), Literature - Language (50 questions, 60 minutes), Natural and Social Sciences (50 questions, 60 minutes).
Because there is no Foreign Language subject, schools like the University of Foreign Languages cannot use the results of the competency assessment test independently but must combine it with the high school graduation exam scores of this subject for admission.
Mr. Le Quan also suggested that in 2025, the Testing Center increase the number of exam sessions and the time to open the exam registration portal for candidates, allowing candidates to take the exam multiple times with many different options.
This is appropriate because from 2025, the high school graduation exam will change significantly in terms of subjects, according to the 2018 general education program.

The Hanoi National University Competency Assessment Test is one of the two largest private exams in the country. Since 2021, the Hanoi National University Examination Center has organized nearly 151,000 exams. At many times, candidates were unable to access the exam registration system because the number of registrations was too large, causing network congestion.
To date, about 80 universities use the results of this exam for admission.
