Start construction of intersection to prevent traffic jam at gateway of Ho Chi Minh City

The investor is looking for a contractor to construct the Dinh intersection (National Highway 1 - Nguyen Van Qua, District 12), with a total capital of 397 billion VND, to help reduce congestion at the city's gateway area.

The plan to select contractors for the main packages of the project has just been released by the HCM City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor), expected to be bid in the fourth quarter of this year. The project has 6 packages, the most important of which is the construction and installation package worth more than 178 billion VND.

The main item of the Dinh intersection project is to build a 600m overpass on National Highway 1, of which the bridge is 240m long and more than 17m wide for 4 lanes. The project has a lifespan of 100 years and can withstand earthquakes of level 7. At the same time, three routes through the intersection including Nguyen Van Qua, Tan Thoi Hiep 20 and Nguyen Thi Dang are being expanded. The drainage system, lighting, trees... around are being completely built.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, National Highway 1 is currently the main traffic axis, but vehicles passing through Dinh intersection often get stuck, especially during rush hour. When completed, the overpass will accommodate vehicles traveling at 80 km per hour, along with the expansion of the road through the intersection, helping to reduce congestion in the area.

Previously, the project to build the Dinh intersection was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in 2016. By 2019, the project was recorded as investment preparation capital, but has not been implemented because it is waiting for the completion of design options.

In addition to the above project, the northwestern gateway of the city has recently invested in expanding many roads such as Dang Thuc Vinh, Bung bridge... Previously, from 2020, the city put into operation the An Suong underpass to help vehicles pass smoothly at this gateway and increase connectivity towards Long An and Tay Ninh provinces.

Along with Dinh intersection, the HCM City Department of Transport has proposed that the city soon allocate investment capital for 15 other major intersections to synchronize the traffic network and reduce congestion in the areas. Among them, many important intersections such as Linh Xuan (National Highway 1 - 1K), Nguyen Thi Dinh - Nguyen Duy Trinh (Thu Duc City); Bon Xa intersection (Thoai Ngoc Hau - Huong Lo 2 - Le Van Quoi, Tan Phu and Binh Tan districts)...
