Diversify agriculture

In the general difficult situation and especially the weather in the mountainous area of Tanh Linh was heavily affected by natural disasters, heavy rains and floods for many months causing heavy damage to production and business. Despite many difficulties and challenges, Tanh Linh has made good use of the opportunities to develop the economy according to the set direction. With an agricultural district, for many years Tanh Linh has always focused on changing the crop structure, improving product quality to meet the domestic and export markets, increasing income for the people. In 2023, the total annual crop planting area of the district will be 35,623 hectares, reaching 108.6% of the annual plan, an increase of 4.3% compared to 2022. Of which, the food crop area will be 30,961 hectares, reaching 108.8% of the 2023 plan and 108.4% of the 2022 plan. The total food output will reach 182,200 tons, reaching 100% of the annual plan. Focus on directing the implementation of production and product consumption linkage according to Decree No. 98 of the Government and Resolution No. 86 of the Provincial People's Council. In 2023, continue to allocate and disburse support funds for the linkage of input material supply - services - processing associated with rice - sticky rice consumption of Duc Binh Agricultural Service Cooperative to implement production and consumption linkage with an area of 120 hectares/2 crops (each crop 60 hectares) for 34 member households, with an estimated output of 900 tons. The project of Dai Nhat Phat Production and Trading Company Limited links with two cooperatives (Gia An Agricultural Service Cooperative and Duc Phu Agricultural Service Cooperative) to produce 100 hectares, each cooperative 50 hectares. Continue to appraise 3 projects to supply input materials, services, organize production, harvest associated with the consumption of rice seeds and commercial rice products.

In addition to the rice varieties that are being grown stably, the district has implemented a model of testing some promising rice varieties of the Mekong Delta Rice Institute such as OM22, OM46, OM34... in the 2023 crop at the Agricultural Service Cooperative of Bac Ruong commune, with a scale of 1 ha. The model of organic rice production, applying the SRI process in cultivation, linking the rice product chain with the "Tanh Linh Rice Logo" to consume products in the 2023 crop, with a scale of 15 ha in Duc Phu, Bac Ruong, Gia An communes. The total livestock herd in the district is 34,100, reaching 103% of the plan, an increase of 1,100 compared to 2022, the livestock and poultry herds are developing stably, without disease outbreaks. Aquaculture area (ponds, lakes) is about 77 hectares with an estimated output of 230 tons, cage farming with an estimated output of 65 tons, exploitation of water surface of ponds, lakes, natural rivers and streams and water surface of Bien Lac lake is 240 tons.

The National Target Program on New Rural Development has been focused on directing the implementation of the set of criteria for new rural communes, estimated at 189 criteria, an average of 15.75 criteria/commune (an increase of 51 criteria compared to the end of 2022), reaching 99% of the annual plan. During the year, 6 products/2 entities were recognized as 3-star OCOP at the district level. Up to now, there have been 10 products/5 entities achieving 3-star OCOP.

Boosting industry…

For many years, Tanh Linh has been constantly trying to call on domestic enterprises to invest in the industrial sector to gradually industrialize according to the province's policy of developing the three pillars of the economy. The land area for industrial development in Tanh Linh is still quite large, especially the area from Lac Tanh to Gia Huynh, Suoi Kiet is quite convenient when there is National Highway 55, DT720 road connecting to the expressway and National Highway 1. Many investors coming to Tanh Linh also want to invest in building industrial clusters adjacent to large industrial parks in Ham Tan for convenient chain development. However, the land problem in this area, although people and enterprises have planted rubber, cashew, and acacia trees for many years, the origin of the land is still forestry land, so the change of purpose needs to be included in the planning. Therefore, the province needs to remove this "bottleneck" so that Tanh Linh has the opportunity to accelerate economic development.

In 2023, industrial and handicraft production facilities will operate stably, with major industries such as hoffman brick production, mechanical repair, food milling, cashew nut processing, and various types of construction stones. Currently, Tanh Linh has 4 industrial clusters with a total area of 85.13 hectares, of which the total land area for industry is 39.41 hectares. The district has proposed that the province adjust the relocation of Gia An brick and tile industrial cluster in village 1, Gia An commune, with an area of 32.53 hectares to village 8, Gia An commune. Lac Tanh industrial cluster (Bau Da area) with an area of 19 hectares invested by Linh Kiet Rubber One Member Co., Ltd. is completing infrastructure. Nghi Duc industrial cluster with an area of 10 hectares is invested by Duc Manh Co., Ltd. Currently, BL LEATHERBANK Company Limited has a contract to build a leather shoe and handbag factory. BL LEATHERBANK Company Limited has completed the land lease contract to invest in the construction of a project with an area of about 5 hectares and the company has submitted an application for a construction permit according to regulations... Gia Huynh rubber processing industrial cluster with an area of 23.6 hectares invested by Binh Thuan Rubber One Member Co., Ltd. However, there are problems with site clearance, so the company has proposed to move the location to village 2, Gia Huynh commune on the land area that has been granted a certificate of land use rights to the company to prepare the application for investment policy according to regulations.
