Having been involved with media since high school, Khanh Linh - a student majoring in international business at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (Tan Phu district) - has always had a passion for sharing stories and connecting with people through words.
Born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, Linh is a very active girl who loves to explore and update new trends of young people. Currently, Linh is in charge of content and planning for the Communications Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade.
Linh has never considered herself a reporter, but she has volunteered to work on every “battlefield”. The little girl excitedly recounted the first time she met actor Ngoc Trai in the program “Personal Brand Positioning”.
Linh said that this was a program organized by the school. As the person in charge of communications, Linh faced a lot of pressure. Before the event took place, she tried to prepare carefully, trying to position herself and the program to the guests; trying to show the most professional style.
Linh "revealed" that in the near future she will learn more MC skills to become more confident and articulate, thereby realizing her dream of becoming a television editor.
Although she is a 12th grade student about to take the high school graduation exam, Tran Ngoc Anh, Nguyen Huu Cau High School (Hoc Mon District), is still an active member of SPREAD - NHC Media & Journalism Club.
Ngoc Anh confided that she is very interested in jobs related to media and journalism. Because of this, Anh once dreamed of becoming a professional television editor.
The 12th grader said that careful preparation before each event is a key factor contributing to the club's success. Before each event, big or small, members meet to discuss and assign specific tasks based on their roles and skills. Departments such as human resources, communications, design, broadcasting, etc. coordinate smoothly, together completing each task effectively.
In February 2024, Anh took on the role of Product Leader of the Net Sac Em Tho Fundraising Project. Participating in activities helped Anh gain a basic foundation and understand the nature of the media and journalism industry. In addition, during the project, this female student was also "upgraded" with experiences related to the event management industry.
Nguyen Thi Thuy Van, a student majoring in international civil commercial law at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, said she was initially overwhelmed when she joined the school's Ulaw Communications Committee.
“In high school, my articles were often emotional, cute, adorable, and “trendy”... When I went to college, my articles became more formal, more journalistic, the sentences had to be clear, concise, and provide a lot of information. I even had to incorporate legal regulations into the posts,” Van shared.
Van said the school regularly organizes seminars and scientific research competitions at home and abroad. This is an opportunity for Van to improve her information thinking skills.
Before each event, Van and the members of the content team will write out background information, come up with ideas, and coordinate with the photo team to get beautiful photo angles. When the program starts, the photo team will "go into action" and the content team will take charge of reporting the event.
Van shared that although the articles are only posted on the school website, speed is still required. The Communications Department must coordinate well between groups so that as soon as the event is over, news and articles are posted immediately.
According to Van, the Communications Department operates almost like a miniature newsroom, with the news process from production to editing being done by students. The center’s leaders will be responsible for final approval and posting.
She said she has no intention of becoming a reporter or editor. However, her journalism skills will be very helpful for her future career in law.
As a recent graduate of civil law, Nguyen Le Tien (23 years old) suddenly “turned” to journalism. Speaking about his career with an energetic voice, Tien said that the process of studying and participating in reporting at university was the valuable luggage that helped this young man confidently enter the profession.
Tien said that his father is a teacher in Long An province. Since his son entered university and participated in media activities, he made two bookshelves, one to display his son's press works/photos that were published by the school; the other shelf for his son to display meaningful gifts during his work.
During his probationary period at a newspaper in Ho Chi Minh City, Tien was highly regarded by many reporters. This young man is a person who is "burned" with all his heart for his job, no different from a real reporter.
