On October 11, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and opening of the Kinh Duong Vuong bridge project (also known as Phat Tich - Dai Dong Thanh bridge) in Bac Ninh province.
This is a bridge across the Duong River, connecting Tien Du District and Thuan Thanh Town, started in 2018; and is also a key project of Bac Ninh Province with a total investment of 1,927 billion VND. In particular, the approach bridge is designed to be 22.5m wide, with two mixed lanes on each side, each lane is 2m wide, 1.75m high from the bridge surface for pedestrians to sightsee and visit.
At the ceremony, Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huong Giang said: Kinh Duong Vuong Bridge, when completed and put into operation, will reduce the load on Ho Bridge, which is often congested. The project also makes a very important contribution to completing the planning for the development of transportation in the Northern key economic region, effectively serving the socio-economic development of the capital region. It creates a driving force to strongly promote the socio-economic development of Bac Ninh province and the Red River Delta provinces in general. At the same time, Kinh Duong Vuong Bridge also connects historical relics such as the Mausoleum and Temple of the ancestor Kinh Duong Vuong, But Thap Pagoda, Dau Pagoda and Phat Tich Pagoda, Do Temple... and many other relics that have been ranked by the state, creating conditions for Bac Ninh province to develop tourism and services.
According to the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, during the construction process, although the construction conditions encountered many difficulties; the structure was complex, this was the first time bridge construction technology was deployed in Vietnam. However, with the drastic participation of the entire political system of Bac Ninh province and the support and assistance of the Government, the bridge has now been completed.
In March, the bridge completed the installation of 5 steel arch spans. This is the most technically and technically difficult part of the project. The height from the water surface to the top of the arch is about 87m, the highest in Vietnam. To construct the steel arch span, the contractor had to mobilize an 800-ton crane from the South to travel by water for about a month.
According to the design, the bridge body is made of reinforced concrete, combined with a steel arch and a cable system suspended into the bridge surface; designed with 4 car lanes, 2m sidewalks on each side, the main bridge is 440m long, the northern approach bridge is longer than 623m, the southern one is longer than 173m.
With its connecting position between Tien Du and Thuan Thanh, Kinh Duong Vuong Bridge is expected to create strong development momentum for the two banks of the historic Duong River.
The bridge has an architecture with 5 load-bearing arches bearing the image of a pair of Ly dynasty dragons, the dragon body curls in an S shape, in the middle of the arch is a pair of dragon heads raised high, symmetrical to each other over a pearl, symbolizing the moon and the sun. Each dragon body has 12 fins symbolizing 12 months of favorable weather in a year.
The completed bridge will contribute to the formation of a closed traffic network between the North Duong River and South Duong River areas of Bac Ninh province. At the same time, it will help connect the region with the provinces of the Red River Delta and neighboring areas such as: Hanoi, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen, Hai Duong via National Highway 1, National Highway 38, National Highway 5, National Highway 17 and provincial roads 276, 287... contributing to promoting the economic - cultural - social development of Bac Ninh and neighboring provinces./.
