On the morning of December 17, the Ministry of National Defense held a rehearsal for the opening ceremony of the second Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien - Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the Exhibition Steering Committee - inspected the preparations.
As planned, the opening ceremony will take place on the morning of December 19, consisting of two main parts. In the art section, the forces will perform four acts: "Vietnamese Bamboo"; "Vietnam - Country - People" with a medley of folk songs from the three regions from the Northwest, the Northern Delta to the Central and Central Highlands; "Colorful Vietnam"; "Aspiration for Peace - Connecting Five Continents". Two hot air balloons with the Vietnamese national flag will fly prominently in the middle throughout the art performance.
After the art part, there will be a ceremony with the participation of leaders of the Party, State, Army, domestic and international delegates. It is expected that the leaders of the Party and State will give a speech welcoming the exhibition. This will be followed by a welcome flight and a martial arts and military dog demonstration. The welcome flight program undertaken by the Vietnam People's Air Force is considered one of the highlights of this event, contributing to affirming the maturity and growth of the Vietnam People's Army.
The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 will take place from December 19 to 22 at Gia Lam Airport (Hanoi). In addition to the exhibition areas of domestic and foreign units and enterprises, the Organizing Committee will arrange a Vietnam Cultural Space area and an exhibition area for "Achievements in building the People's Armed Forces and building a national defense for all people".
The exhibition will be open to the public for free from the afternoon of December 21.
On the same day, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army chaired and coordinated with the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, and the Vietnam Journalists Association to organize the award ceremony of the national press and artistic photo contest on the Vietnam People's Army and National Defense in 2024 with the theme "80 years of the Heroic Army".
The contest was launched in April 2024, receiving 4,502 entries, including 1,601 press photos and 2,901 art photos from more than 1,400 authors. As a result, 48 best works were selected to be awarded in 2 categories, each category including 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 6 third prizes, and 12 consolation prizes.
