Along with the advantages of beautiful landscapes, traditional culture, new and unique tourism products, cuisine is also an important factor attracting tourists at each tourist destination of Quang Ninh. In recent times, Quang Ninh has been effectively exploiting the culinary cultural values ​​of each region to increase the attractiveness and enhance the competitiveness of the destination to attract tourists to come and experience more than once.

Coming to Ky Thuong Am Vap farm tourist area (Ky Thuong commune, Ha Long city), visitors can not only immerse themselves in the fresh, open nature of the mountains and forests, experience the cultural characteristics of the Dao ethnic group here, but also enjoy seasonal dishes made from local agricultural products grown and raised by the locals such as: local chicken, stream fish, field frogs, upland taro, mustard greens, bamboo shoots, etc. Most of the dishes are not too elaborately prepared to ensure freshness, some dishes are also cooked in the unique traditional way of the locals.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Am Vap Farm Joint Stock Company, said: Tourists coming to Am Vap Farm, in addition to enjoying the cultural experiences, also have a love for local cuisine. Each dish, although simple and rustic, brings its own appeal. In the coming time, we will focus on developing local OCOP products such as bamboo shoots, honey, upland taro... by encouraging people to expand concentrated production areas. From there, we will create more clean, self-sufficient raw materials to serve tourism services, creating a unique mark for the destination.

In Binh Lieu, the culinary culture of the Tay, Dao, and San Chi people here has long been an attraction for tourists from all over the world. These include cakes such as: Ngải leaf cake, Tài long ép cake, Đụ rice cake, Gù chung cake, Côc mo cake, or dishes such as Đồng Văn stir-fried pho, five-color sticky rice, ginger-leaf sticky rice, stream fish, dong vermicelli, black duck... Each dish is not only unique in the way it is prepared, beautiful in color, with a characteristic flavor, but also contains and conveys meaningful cultural stories.

Ms. Hoang Thi Cam, owner of Hai Oanh homestay (Luc Hon commune), shared: When coming to my homestay, in addition to being interested in the rooms, services, tourist attractions, landscapes, and means of transportation, many guests are also interested in what delicious food to eat and which dining locations are suitable for their travel itinerary. Therefore, for many years now, our family has provided food services for visitors, prioritizing the selection and introduction of traditional dishes made from local ingredients and agricultural products. In particular, during festivals, we often organize experiential activities such as cooking sticky rice with ginger leaves, grilling chicken, making some types of cakes, etc. Thereby, not only creating interesting experiences for visitors but also introducing them to the origin, customs and practices related to food, the beauty of culinary culture as well as the traditional culture of our homeland.

In recent years, Quang Ninh is the first locality in the country to focus on directing the development of traditional culinary brands, typical of the locality associated with the program "One commune, one product" (OCOP). The program has received strong response with the participation of the community, management agencies, and localities. Up to now, Quang Ninh is the leading locality in the country in the number of OCOP products with 569 products in 6 groups. Among them, there are many products that are loved by tourists, creating brands in the market such as: Dong Trieu yellow flower sticky rice, Mong Cai pig, Tien Yen chicken, Van Don sea worms, Co To squid, Ha Long squid rolls, Binh Lieu dong vermicelli, Morinda officinalis wine, Ba Che yellow flower tea...

Along with that, Quang Ninh also implements many activities and events to exploit culinary values ​​such as OCOP fairs, expanded Quang Ninh culinary fairs, culinary weeks, seminars, workshops, and chef competitions... to widely promote culinary cultural values ​​and attract the participation of tourists.

Exploiting the value of culinary culture associated with tourism development is the right direction contributing to diversifying products and types of tourism, increasing the value of local products. Thereby, constantly creating competitiveness, enhancing the position of Quang Ninh tourism on the world tourism map.
