Opening of the Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Festival in Quang Tri in 2024

(NADS) - On the evening of December 14, in Quang Tri, the 2024 Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival officially opened in an exciting and united atmosphere. The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, with the participation of 16 provinces and cities representing regions across the country.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy attended and delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the important significance of the Festival in preserving and promoting the cultural values of ethnic groups, while affirming the positive contributions of ethnic groups in building and protecting the country. Honoring diverse cultural identities The festival has the theme “Preserving and promoting the cultural identities of Vietnamese ethnic groups: Equality, solidarity, respect, integration and development for a peaceful world”. This is an opportunity to honor the cultural beauty of 54 ethnic groups, from traditional rituals, festivals, ethnic costumes, to typical cuisine and folk performing arts. Highlights include: mass art festival, ethnic costume performance, introduction of traditional festivals and beliefs, exhibition of local cultural characteristics, folk games and sports competitions. In particular, the event also promotes the cultural beauty of ethnic minorities in Quang Tri, where the Bru-Van Kieu and Ta Oi (Pa Co) ethnic groups converge with dances and folk songs such as caloi and chachap, along with the Arieuping festival and the new rice celebration. Quang Tri - Land of rich traditions Speaking at the opening ceremony, the leaders of Quang Tri province emphasized the role of culture in the development of the locality. From a heroic land that suffered much pain during the war, Quang Tri today has strongly revived, with important contributions from ethnic minorities. The province also devotes many resources to socio-economic development programs for ethnic minority and mountainous areas, associated with cultural preservation and tourism development. The festival is an opportunity for Quang Tri to introduce unique cultural tourism products, while promoting cultural exchanges between ethnic groups in the country and internationally. Spreading the message of peace and development The opening ceremony was not only an opportunity for artists, actors and athletes to gather, but also conveyed the message of solidarity, equality and integration. Through this, the young generation was reminded of their responsibility to preserve and promote precious cultural values, contributing to building a sustainable and globally integrated Vietnam. At the end of her speech, Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy thanked the ministries, branches, localities and people who contributed to the success of the Festival. At the same time, she expressed her hope that the event would contribute to promoting the cultural, economic and tourism development of Quang Tri province, bringing the image of Vietnam closer to international friends. The Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival in Quang Tri will take place from December 14 to 16, 2024, promising to bring many interesting and meaningful experiences.
