This morning, April 8, at the Provincial Multi-purpose Gymnasium, Quang Tri province solemnly held the Opening Ceremony of the 7th Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024 with the theme: "Proud of the homeland's traditions, Quang Tri school youth promote Phu Dong spirit, conquer the peak of knowledge, join hands to protect peace".

Over the past years, Quang Tri province has always paid attention to developing the sports movement among all classes of people, especially physical education in schools. The province has invested in infrastructure associated with organizing sports activities, sports clubs in schools attracting a large number of students to participate, contributing significantly to improving the province's sports achievements in regional, national and international competitions.

After 6 times of organization, Phu Dong Sports Festival has truly become the biggest traditional sports festival of students in the province, the pinnacle of the school sports movement, promoting the sports movement in schools to spread to the whole society, increasingly developing strongly in both scale and quality, the number of competitions and the number of athletes participating is increasing, many new records are set; accumulating more practical experience to direct physical education and sports activities in schools, realizing the goal of comprehensive education for students.

The 7th Quang Tri Province Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024 was held with the participation of 3,251 outstanding athletes who have undergone training and competition, selected from the Phu Dong Sports Festival at school and district levels, from 43 delegations from primary, secondary and high schools across the province, competing in 11 events: table tennis, shuttlecock, football, volleyball, badminton, aerobics, athletics, swimming, pole pushing, chess, karate with a total of 2,181 medals of all kinds and 87 team flags, 21 delegation flags.

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee of the 7th Quang Tri Provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024 Hoang Nam acknowledged and commended the Steering Committee of the Phu Dong Sports Festival at all levels, units and schools for successfully organizing and selecting outstanding athlete delegations to participate in this provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival.

Through the provincial Phu Dong Sports Festival, the organizing committee and team of experts will discover talented students in sports to select, organize training, and prepare forces to participate in the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024 and sports competitions organized by the Ministry of Education and Training.
