On September 29, Road Management Area III said that it had just sent a document requesting Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Transport) to repair damage and ensure traffic safety on the section of the project to enhance traffic connectivity in the Central Highlands region (upgrading National Highway 19) under construction.
Damaged road in the section through the center of Dak Doa district (Gia Lai).
Through inspection, the Office of Road Management Area III recorded many damages on the National Highway 19 upgrading and expansion project invested by Project Management Board 2 which is being implemented.
Due to the impact of recent rains, the road surface through Dak Doa town from Km152+300 – Km155+00 is damaged; the asphalt concrete road surface has potholes in some sections.
Some deep potholes pose a very high risk of traffic accidents for vehicles on this route.
Road Management Area III requested Project Management Board 2 to direct relevant units to inspect and evaluate the quality of the project and direct the contractor to urgently repair the damage on this section of the route.
In Thanh Binh village, Binh Giao commune (Chu Prong district), some local damage also occurred.
According to the Binh Giao commune government, in a short period of time, a series of traffic collisions have occurred, forcing local residents to find ways to warn of dangerous sections, in order to help people traveling on this route stay safe.
Many damaged road surfaces.
Project Management Board 2 informed that the damaged section is located in the 23.7 km long XL04A package, implemented by the Joint Venture of Hop Tien Co., Ltd. - Vinadenta Joint Stock Company. Currently, the weather is sunny, the construction unit is implementing measures to patch potholes and repair.
Mr. Pham Thanh Nam, Deputy Director of Vina Delta Joint Stock Company, shared that the construction unit is 11km long. Up to now, the construction volume has been completed by 99%, currently only repairs and cleaning are left within the project scope. It is expected that by October 2024, it will be handed over to the investor for acceptance and use.
Mr. Nam also said he is coordinating with other agencies to assess the cause.
"The unit has taken samples to test the asphalt concrete layer. In addition, after prolonged heavy rains combined with many vehicles, the damage has spread," said Mr. Nam.
According to Mr. Nam, it is expected that the repairs will be completed in the next few days to ensure traffic safety. After the rainy season ends, the contractor will cut out all damaged areas and re-pave them.
It is known that the project to enhance traffic connectivity in the Central Highlands region, abbreviated as the National Highway 19 upgrade project, 143km long, passing through the two provinces of Binh Dinh and Gia Lai, will start construction in 2021.
The project has a total investment of more than 3,600 billion VND, with Project Management Board 2 as the investor. According to the plan, the project will be completed before December 31, 2024.
