Publicly connect the processing process for parents to monitor
On September 13, the interdisciplinary inspection team of Dan Phuong district conducted a surprise inspection of food safety at the district Kindergarten and Phung town Kindergarten.
Dan Phuong District Kindergarten currently has 255 students, of which approximately 220 meals are provided daily. At the time of inspection, the school was carrying out the process of food delivery, processing, and preparing meals for students.
The inspection team noted that the school's food preparation kitchen area was clean; the school had established a food delivery process and provided a number of documents and papers as requested by the team. The team also took samples for rapid testing of pesticide residues on Malabar spinach, with negative results.
However, the Delegation also reminded the school to correct and supplement some records and documents according to regulations.
At Phung Town Kindergarten, the inspection team assessed that the school had developed and implemented a scientific and serious food delivery and processing process; with complete records and documents as required. The team also took quick pesticide residue tests on tomato samples in the school kitchen, with negative results.
Sharing with Kinh te & Do thi, Principal of Phung Town Kindergarten Nguyen Thi Phan Anh said that the school has 410 children, 17 classes (including 12 kindergarten classes and 5 nursery classes). Every day, the school kitchen serves about 380 - 390 meals for children, meeting the standard menu suitable for each age group.
Every year, the school develops a food safety process, assigns specific tasks to members, and follows the step-by-step process. The school organizes meetings to set criteria for selecting food suppliers to ensure legal documents as well as food quality. At the same time, it reviews equipment and studies directives from the Ministry of Education and Training, the Department of Education and Training, and the industry, and builds a menu that ensures quantity and nutrition for children.
In particular, last school year, the school invested in two RO water filtration systems worth a total of 500 million VND, ensuring a clean water source for food preparation as well as a water source for children to drink every day.
“The process of food delivery, preparation, processing, and distribution of food for meals in class are all connected to public cameras by the school so that parents can monitor and feel secure. All food sources have been periodically and suddenly inspected by interdisciplinary inspection teams in coordination with the Parents' Representative Committee to promptly resolve problems. In recent school years, Phung Town Kindergarten has not had any food poisoning in the school,” added Nguyen Thi Phan Anh, Principal of Phung Town Kindergarten.

Head of the Dan Phuong District Health Department Hoang Minh Duc - Head of the interdisciplinary inspection team of Dan Phuong district said that immediately after the issuance of Plan No. 210/KH-UBND dated July 11, 2024 of the Hanoi People's Committee on the topic "Strengthening food safety control in and around school gates in Hanoi", the Dan Phuong District People's Committee issued Plan 216/KH-UBND on ensuring food safety in and outside schools. At the same time, the district issued a decision to establish an interdisciplinary inspection team on ensuring food safety in schools, focusing on tracing the origin of food.
“Through inspections of food suppliers and schools, the inspection team noted that the schools have procedures for receiving food inputs as well as knowledge of food safety, ensuring the health of processing staff and nurses. In the coming time, we will continue to conduct regular and unscheduled inspections, focusing on unscheduled inspections to ensure that the input food source is always of good quality,” said Mr. Hoang Minh Duc.
It is known that in the 2023-2024 school year, the authorities of Dan Phuong district organized the assessment and evaluation of 21 establishments providing food, ready-to-eat meals, bottled and canned drinks, and dairy products.
Sharing with Kinh te & Do thi, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Dan Phuong district, Bui Thi Thanh Hai, said that currently in the district there are 19 kindergartens, of which 100% are boarding schools; at the primary level there are 20 schools, of which 15 are boarding schools.
According to Ms. Bui Thi Thanh Hai, ensuring food safety is identified by the district education sector as an extremely important task because it is related to the health of students. The Department of Education and Training, based on the guidance documents of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Health, the City People's Committee, the Department of Education and Training, and the People's Committee of Dan Phuong district, has directed schools to seriously implement this work, focusing on choosing safe food with clear origin. At the same time, schools are directed to develop reasonable menus for students, balance food quantities, and prepare delicious food so that children can eat all their meals, improving their physical strength and health.
“In addition, every year the District Department of Education and Training organizes separate training courses for management staff, medical staff, and nutrition staff, including inviting nutrition experts to speak and share experiences with schools. The schools have strictly implemented and ensured food safety. For many years in the district, there have been no cases of food poisoning in schools,” said Ms. Bui Thi Thanh Hai.
To ensure food safety for schools in the district in the 2024-2025 school year and the following years, the District People's Committee requests the district's departments, branches, and sectors, the People's Committees of communes, towns, and schools to step up inspection and supervision of compliance with legal regulations on ensuring food safety in collective kitchens, food production, processing, and trading establishments according to regulations; strictly handle and publicize the names of establishments violating food safety in the media.
