Focus on infrastructure investment

According to Resolution No. 863 of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Huong An town was established on the basis of the entire 11.17km2 natural area and population of 8,267 people of Huong An commune.

At the beginning of 2020, the town's infrastructure had not been invested in and built synchronously, and some criteria for a type V urban area had only reached the minimum threshold according to regulations.

Mr. Nguyen Canh Nam - Chairman of Huong An Town People's Committee said that in the past 5 years, the local government has made efforts to mobilize and flexibly combine many capital channels to build essential infrastructure to create a new look for the young urban area and create a driving force to promote socio-economic development.

According to statistics, from 2020 to 2024, Huong An will invest an average of 10 billion VND per year in this work. With that funding, the town has built, expanded, and upgraded 5 inner-city roads with a length of 6km. Currently, there are 25 roads in the area that have been named according to the resolution of the Provincial People's Council.

Strong economic development

Each crop, farmers in Huong An town cultivate 214 hectares of rice fields. Since 2020, the town government has invested 2 billion VND to solidify the canal system to ensure irrigation water supply for production.

In recent years, Huong An has also regularly organized training courses to transfer advanced production technology packages, especially supporting farmers to introduce many new varieties of good quality into mass sowing to increase rice productivity. In 2024, the average rice yield of the town will reach about 62 quintals/ha, an increase of 2-3 quintals/ha compared to 2020 and earlier.

Notably, in recent years, farmers in the town have linked up with companies to produce 15 hectares of high-quality commercial sticky rice per crop in a concentrated commodity model, with businesses purchasing the output of the products. This production linkage model helps farmers’ income increase by about 30% compared to sowing regular rice.

Currently, Huong An town has 52 hectares of fertile land, mainly concentrated in 3 residential groups of Yen Lu, Huong Yen, Dong Tram. In recent years, in addition to actively mobilizing farmers to improve their land, the agricultural sector of Que Son district and local authorities have paid attention to supporting investment in building irrigation systems and strongly transforming crop structures to form models of crop rotation, intercropping, and intercropping of some types of upland crops. On average, each hectare of fertile land is worth 150-180 million VND per year, while the income from taro alone is 280-320 million VND.
