VOV.VN - Today (October 12), Chinese Premier Li Qiang began an official visit to Vietnam from October 12-14 at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
At the invitation of Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang paid an official visit to Vietnam from October 12-14, 2024. This is the first visit to Vietnam in 11 years by a Premier of the State Council of China and also the first visit to Vietnam by Mr. Li Qiang as Premier of the State Council, reflecting the good and positive exchanges and contacts between the two countries' senior leaders.

In recent times, senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries have made important visits such as the State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping (December 2023), the State visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam (August 2024) and the working trip to attend WEF Dalian and work in China by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh (June 2024).
Prime Minister Li Qiang's visit took place in the context that Vietnam and China are looking forward to the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (January 18, 1950 - January 18, 2025), the overall relationship between the two countries has maintained a good development momentum and achieved many important results. China has continuously been Vietnam's largest trading partner and Vietnam's second largest export market. Vietnam is China's largest trading partner in ASEAN and China's fifth largest trading partner in the world. In the first 9 months of 2024, bilateral import-export turnover reached 148.6 billion USD. In terms of connectivity, the two sides are coordinating to build a railway in Vietnam in the coming time. In terms of Party building cooperation, the two sides are promoting cooperation in this field in many different departments. Cooperation in other fields such as culture, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchange has achieved many practical and encouraging results; Cooperation between localities has been vibrant. In multilateral forums, the two sides have actively coordinated in multilateral forums to promote peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world, promote the central role of ASEAN, comply with the United Nations Charter and international law. In addition, the two sides have achieved many results in building a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and sustainable development Vietnam-China land border; strived to maintain exchanges and control disagreements at sea, in accordance with the provisions of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea; actively implemented negotiation mechanisms on maritime issues, promoted full and effective implementation of the DOC, and strived to build a substantive, effective and efficient COC, contributing to ensuring peace and stability in the East Sea and the region. Prime Minister Li Qiang's visit to Vietnam is an opportunity for the two sides to focus on discussing specific measures, actively promoting, expanding and improving the effectiveness and quality of cooperation areas, deepening the substantive cooperation between Vietnam and China, achieving many practical results, bringing benefits to the people of the two countries. As planned, during his official visit to Vietnam, Prime Minister Li Qiang will have important talks and meetings with General Secretary and President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
