The Book Fair is a practical activity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024) and the 25th anniversary of Hanoi being honored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as "City for Peace".
The activity also aims to arouse pride in the glorious revolutionary fighting tradition of the Party Committee, armed forces and people of Hanoi Capital, and the thousand-year-old cultural and heroic tradition of Thang Long - Hanoi.
The Book Fair is organized to continue promoting the effectiveness of reading culture development activities, to build and encourage reading habits and develop the reading movement in the community, towards building a learning society, contributing to building elegant and civilized Hanoians.

The 2024 Book Fair will be large-scale, including book displays and exhibitions with the theme "Hanoi: Capital of culture and heroes - City for peace"; areas introducing books of publishers and distribution enterprises; book launches; copyright trading and exchange activities; cultural exchange programs, etc.
The Book Fair is expected to have 200 - 250 standard booths of publishers and book companies in the city and the whole country; a number of foreign publishers with representative offices and publishing partners in Vietnam; a number of foreign diplomatic agencies in Hanoi; representatives of a number of organizations, associations and publishing associations in the region and the world participating in the Book Fair.
The Hanoi People's Committee assigned the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications to preside over and coordinate with central and Hanoi agencies and organizations to organize and ensure that the Book Fair's activities are solemn, meaningful, safe, economical, culturally and educationally significant, and culturally typical of Hanoi./.
