Speaking to the press, Ms. Zeina Hilal, an officer of the IPU Secretariat, said that a large number of delegates were interested in attending the conference in Vietnam this time, giving their opinions on issues such as: Digital transformation, innovation to achieve sustainable development goals. This is a testament to the friendship between the IPU and Vietnam as Vietnam hosted the 132nd IPU in 2015 and the delegates were happy to return to Vietnam.
“The topic of this exchange is extremely important, not only the young generation but also the issues raised such as digital transformation and innovation raised by Vietnam are perfect for this conference,” said Ms. Zeina Hilal.
Ms. Zeina Hilal also appreciated Vietnam's sustainable development perspective of leaving no one behind. The 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference will support the promotion of innovation in many other issues such as education, providing children with educational products.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, educational services have been provided to children. In particular, the role of parliamentarians is to introduce policies to promote innovation, provide young people with necessary educational products, or the issue of employment for young people because innovation and the application of science and technology also cause many jobs to be lost. Faced with this issue, parliamentarians need to provide the necessary legal framework to create jobs in the face of changes caused by innovation for young people.
The Vietnamese National Assembly's hosting of the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference is a practical activity to implement the guidelines of the 13th National Party Congress, Resolution No. 34 of the Politburo on "Some major orientations and policies to implement the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress", Directive No. 25 of the Secretariat of the 12th Party Central Committee on promoting and enhancing multilateral diplomacy until 2030 and the Vietnam Youth Development Strategy for the 2021-2030 period.
Hosting this Conference contributes to affirming Vietnam's active, responsible and proactive participation in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) - the world's largest inter-parliamentary organization;
At the same time, it shows Vietnam's attention and concern for youth and the global issues of today's youth... .
