306 young team members participate in the 2nd Children's National Assembly mock session - 2024

Building on the results and successes of the first "Children's National Assembly" simulation session - 2023, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Central Council of the Young Pioneers, in coordination with the National Assembly's Committee on Culture andEducation , and the National Assembly Office will organize the second "Children's National Assembly" simulation session - 2024.

Ms. Nguyen Pham Duy Trang, Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Council of Young Pioneers, and Head of the Organizing Committee, said that this year's mock "Children's National Assembly " session has many new points, especially in the selection of child delegates as well as the selection of topics.

The two topics of this year's Children's National Assembly Mock Session include "Preventing and combating school violence, creating a safe environment for children", and "Preventing and combating the harmful effects of tobacco and stimulants in the school environment".

These two topics were selected from 6 groups of issues sent by children from 63 provinces and cities, then collected and commented on after 2 months with 300,000 comments.

According to the organizers, these are also topics that the National Assembly and Government agencies are interested in and have been following and discussing.

This year, the child delegates were carefully selected from proposals from provincial and municipal youth unions and from their own nominations.

There were many excellent students who were directly interviewed by the organizing committee, many of whom were selected as key delegates. Many of them clearly demonstrated leadership and management qualities and, even more so, the ability to synthesize issues.

Speaking at a press conference before the mock session, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Hoa, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Education, hoped that the voices of children at this mock session would contribute to creating more emphasis for children's consultation on children's rights issues that the National Assembly is concerned about.

"This will also be a stronger motivation for Government members to see more clearly their responsibilities to promote implementation and resolve the promises of ministries before the National Assembly in official explanation sessions," Ms. Hoa emphasized.

Thao Mi Phenh, a student of class 9A3, Lung Chinh Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, Meo Vac, Ha Giang, shared at the press conference.

As one of the delegates attending this mock meeting, Thao Mi Phenh - class 9A3, Lung Chinh Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, Meo Vac, Ha Giang - said she was extremely proud to attend, hoping to contribute a little voice of H'Mong ethnic students in particular and students in mountainous areas in general on the above two topics.

"Currently, at school, in my hometown, every holiday, there are still many students who smoke, drink alcohol, many students only study until grade 9 and then drop out. I hope that by participating as a child representative at this meeting, I will contribute my voice to the leaders, helping to eliminate bad habits in the school environment and everyone can go to school regularly," Thao Mi Phenh shared.

During the activities of this second session, there will be a question-and-answer session at the Dien Hong Hall of the National Assembly building, where National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will give a speech to 306 "delegates".

The mock session of the "Children's National Assembly" was held to effectively implement the 2016 Law on Children and to specify the national action program for children for the period 2021 - 2030.

This is also one of the specific tasks and solutions in effectively implementing the Project "Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union promotes children's right to participate in children's issues in the period 2023-2027".

The mock session of the "Children's National Assembly" is a forum for children to express their voices, thoughts and aspirations; at the same time, practice political activities to foster dreams and build great ambitions for children, the future owners of the country; demonstrate the concern of the leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly and the whole society for children and the work of protecting, caring for and educating children.

This is also a model to promote early participation of children in political and social activities, contributing to ensuring the rights and interests of children.
