On June 20, in Ninh Binh city, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee to organize a conference of leaders of local foreign affairs agencies in 2024.
Attending the conference were comrades: Nguyen Minh Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Tong Quang Thin, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs and related Departments under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; foreign affairs agencies and related departments and branches from 58 provinces and cities across the country.
Speaking at the conference, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tong Quang Thin affirmed that Ninh Binh province is pleased to be the locality chosen by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize the "Conference of leaders of local foreign affairs agencies in 2024".
Briefly providing information about the geographical features, historical and cultural traditions and outstanding achievements in socio-economic development of the province in recent years, he emphasized: In recent years, the Party Committee, government and people of Ninh Binh province have inherited and promoted the traditions of their ancestors, with the will and aspiration to rise up, united, proactive, creative, promoted potentials and advantages, overcame difficulties and challenges, and achieved important and comprehensive achievements in all fields.
Currently, Ninh Binh province is focusing on implementing strategic goals and tasks according to the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister. The focus is on promoting all potentials, advantages, resources, and motivations to develop Ninh Binh province rapidly and sustainably, basically meeting the criteria by 2030 and by 2035 becoming a centrally-run city with the characteristics of a millennium heritage urban area, a creative city; a large center with high brand value in tourism, cultural industry, and heritage economy of the whole country and the Asia-Pacific region; a leading center of the country in modern transport mechanical industry; an innovative startup center of the southern provinces of the Red River Delta. At the same time, it is a solid location in terms of national defense and security; Building a strong and clean Party and political system, economic development, prosperous society, and happy people.
He emphasized: The conference of leaders of local foreign affairs agencies is of great significance, held annually to update and supplement knowledge on foreign affairs for leaders and civil servants working in foreign affairs in provinces and cities across the country. The conference is also an opportunity for local foreign affairs agencies to exchange and share experiences and lessons in foreign affairs, thereby finding new directions and creative solutions to improve the effectiveness of local foreign affairs activities.
We believe that under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the active and enthusiastic participation of delegates, the conference will achieve many practical results, contributing to the overall development of Vietnamese diplomacy.
On this occasion, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee respectfully thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and local foreign affairs agencies for their support and facilitation so that Ninh Binh province could successfully complete its foreign affairs tasks in the past time, and hoped to continue to receive their affection and help in the coming time.
After the welcome speech, the conference held discussion sessions to evaluate the foreign affairs work of our Party and State from 2023 to present, especially high-level foreign affairs work; and proposed a number of directions for local foreign affairs work in the coming time.
Also at the conference, delegates focused on discussing and sharing experiences on promoting the implementation of economic diplomacy in foreign affairs of localities; the issue of cooperation in the Mekong Sub-region and the participation of localities; international integration work at localities; some issues that need to be noted from the perspective of specialized diplomatic inspectors in implementing foreign affairs work at localities...
In her closing speech at the conference, Comrade Nguyen Minh Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized: In the spirit of urgent and responsible work, the 2024 conference of leaders of local foreign affairs agencies ended successfully with many rich, substantive and effective activities.
Through the lively and substantive exchanges at two discussion sessions with leaders of the units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he believed that the leaders of local foreign affairs agencies had a better understanding of the goals and measures to promote effective coordination in foreign affairs; as well as some key points in implementing local foreign affairs between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and localities in the coming time.
He highly appreciated the enthusiastic and practical contributions of the conference delegates on the coordination mechanism and solutions to further improve the effectiveness of local foreign affairs work. He requested that the units within the Ministry take note of and synthesize the comments of the leaders of local foreign affairs agencies, study them and promptly provide appropriate feedback and answers.
We request that leaders of local foreign affairs agencies proactively contact and discuss with agencies and units under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to deploy new contents, tasks and issues for localities in the coming time.
