On the evening of September 12 (local time), Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and the Vietnamese delegation attended the ceremony to celebrate the 78th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, solemnly organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique in the capital city of Maputo, Mozambique.
Attending the celebration, on the Mozambique side, were Defense Minister Cristovao Artur Chume and Fisheries Minister Lidia Cardoso.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique Pham Hoang Kim happily informed the Mozambican delegates and diplomatic corps of other countries about Vietnam's achievements in socio-economic recovery and development after the Covid-19 pandemic; emphasizing that the traditional solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Mozambique has had encouraging developments in recent years.
Expressing his appreciation for the valuable traditional friendship between the two Parties, States and peoples, the Minister of Defense of Mozambique affirmed that Mozambique will continue to work with Vietnam to promote cooperation in areas of strength to match the great potential of both sides.

Previously, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan had an emotional and friendly meeting with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique and the Vietnamese community in Mozambique.
Ambassador Pham Hoang Kim reported to the Vice President about the situation of the Vietnamese community living, working and studying in Mozambique and the work of the Embassy. The Vietnamese community in Mozambique currently has about 200 people, living and working stably in the locality in fields such as business, telecommunications, education, health care and students.

The Association of Vietnamese in Mozambique was established in 2009. On behalf of the Vietnamese community in Mozambique, the Association's President, Mr. Ngo Kim Trong, expressed his joy at the increasingly good development of the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Mozambique, and was moved by the attention and visit of the Vice President, who shared about the lives of Vietnamese people in Mozambique and expressed his heart always turning towards his homeland and country.

The Vice President informed the Vietnamese community in Mozambique about the political, economic, social situation and recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic in the country in recent times; announced the results of his official visit to Mozambique through talks with the Prime Minister of Mozambique, meetings with the President and Chairman of the National Assembly of Mozambique, meetings with the Secretary General of the ruling Frelimo Party, and representatives of Mozambican businesses.
The Vice President emphasized that the Party and State always pay attention to the Vietnamese community abroad, including our compatriots in Mozambique; highly appreciated the community in Mozambique, although not large in number, but always united, close-knit, supporting each other to stabilize their lives, integrate well into the host society, and actively contribute to the country's development, playing a bridging role in strengthening the friendly relations between Vietnam and Mozambique.

On the same day, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan had a meeting with Chairman of the Confederation of Economic Organizations of Mozambique (CTA) Agostinho Vuma and a number of typical businesses of Mozambique.
At the reception, the Vice President highly appreciated Mozambique's position and role as an important transit point for goods in the southern African region. The two countries need to continue promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation in the coming time to match the potential of the two countries, with a market of over 130 million people. The Vice President suggested that, with the important role of connecting and supporting businesses on both sides to promote cooperation, CTA and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry should strengthen cooperation, promote the exchange of ministerial-level delegations on trade and investment and encourage businesses on both sides to connect and participate in fairs and exhibitions.
The CTA President affirmed that he highly values the cooperative relationship with Vietnam, thanked the Vietnamese government and the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique for their support in the past time; committed to promoting connections, introductions, and information exchanges to create more cooperation opportunities in potential fields.
