Current status of nearly 12,000 billion VND highway through Van Phong economic zone

KHANH HOA - The Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway, over 83 km long, is gradually taking shape after a year of construction. The contractor mobilized more than 1,800 engineers and workers to speed up the progress and complete it next year.

The Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway project started construction in early 2023 with Project Management Board 7 (Ministry of Transport) as the investor, with a total capital of nearly 12,000 billion VND.

The project is over 83 km long, passing through Ninh Hoa town and three districts of Van Ninh, Dien Khanh, Khanh Vinh. The starting point of the project connects the south of Co Ma tunnel (Van Ninh district), the end point connects Nha Trang - Cam Lam expressway (Dien Khanh district).

Along the highway, many sections are covered with crushed stone and reinforced with flat cement, and contractors are waiting for favorable weather to start paving.

A section of the highway passing through Ninh Hoa town is under construction. The route is expected to have 4 lanes, 17 m wide, and a maximum speed of 80 km/h.

A representative of Project Management Board 7 said that along the entire route, contractors have mobilized 42 construction teams (24 road teams, 18 bridge teams) with a total of more than 1,800 workers and 943 construction equipment of all kinds. The workload has reached more than 36%.

According to the investor, localities have handed over 99.6% of the land. Currently, only 0.32 km in Ninh Hoa town has not been handed over and the power line infrastructure has not been relocated.

Mr. Dang Van Dung, Executive Director of the Van Phong – Nha Trang Expressway Project, said that he has proposed that the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee direct localities to speed up the relocation of technical infrastructure at essential locations. Priority will be given to relocating two locations (high-voltage, medium-voltage, and low-voltage power lines) in Van Ninh district and four locations in Ninh Hoa town.

Along the highway, 2,774 households have handed over their land to the construction unit. To date, the locality has completed 6 resettlement areas and organized the division of plots and drawing lots for 203/203 households to build houses.

The section through Ninh Trung commune, Ninh Hoa town is being implemented by Lizen Joint Stock Company. By the end of 2023, this unit will have paved more than 10 km.

The entire highway has 17 bridges, most of which have just completed girder supports and bored piles.

The expressway section passing through Dien Tho commune, Dien Khanh district, is gradually taking shape. The nearly 23 km long section, built by Son Hai Group, is being paved.

The contractor has mobilized hundreds of machines and human resources, organized more than 50 bridge and road construction teams, divided into 3 shifts and 4 teams. Up to now, the construction progress has reached 40% compared to the contract (33% higher than the plan).

The end point of Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway connects the starting point of Nha Trang - Cam Lam expressway, through Dien Khanh district.

Currently, the overall progress of the entire Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway project is 2% faster than planned. The route is expected to be completed in 2025 and put into operation a year later.
