CNN reported that air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv (Israel) and some other areas on May 26. This is the first time the city has been attacked by rockets since late January.
The Times of Israel quoted an IDF spokesman as saying that the Iron Dome air defense system intercepted three rockets, while the remaining five fell into open areas.

In a statement on Telegram, Hamas' al-Qassam Brigades said it had launched a barrage of rockets in response to Israel's attacks on civilians.
Israeli war cabinet member Benny Gantz said the attack from Rafah "proved that the IDF must operate wherever Hamas is present". Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant called for stronger strikes to "take down Hamas battalions".
The IDF believes that Hamas does not have the capacity to produce rockets in the current situation, as the Israeli army has dismantled major factories in other areas of Gaza.
Also on May 26, the Israeli military confirmed that it had conducted an airstrike on an area where Tel Aviv believed Hamas members were gathered in Rafah, adding that it had killed two senior Hamas members. Hamas has not commented on this information.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society and Gaza officials condemned the Israeli attack, saying the area targeted by the IDF was designated a "safe zone" for civilians.
Israel continues its attacks on Rafah despite the International Court of Justice's ruling on May 24 requiring Tel Aviv to stop its military campaign in the city.
