According to The Verge , it has been 10 years since Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) first launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, as well as the online title Grand Theft Auto Online . In a new post on X on September 18, Rockstar Games sent its gratitude to the fan community, stating that the company's player base has helped GTA 5 thrive across multiple generations of gaming consoles.
GTA 5 is 10 years old
Last week, in celebration of its 10th anniversary, Rockstar also announced a slew of new content for GTA Online. Fans will get new outfits, GTA 5-style weapon upgrades, additional modes, a classic car called the Bravado Hotring Hellfire for GTA+ members, and a variety of collectibles and bonuses for completing certain missions.
According to The Verge, in addition to the vast game world and interesting gameplay, the biggest highlight of GTA 5 lies in the stories in the game. The game's approach allows fans to experience stories from three different perspectives at the same time, something that movies cannot do.
Since its launch, Rockstar has released versions of the game on the next two generations of Xbox and PlayStation, improving things with graphical upgrades like Ray Tracing. The company also released the series' first 3D entries in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — Definitive Edition .
But Rockstar hasn't announced anything about GTA 6 , the highly anticipated game that the company confirmed last year was in development. Aside from the leak of footage and source code by hackers, information about the new game is currently very limited.
