Education about the origin plays an important role in preserving and promoting the cultural and historical values of the nation and nurturing and fostering love for the homeland and country in each person. In particular, educating the young generation - the future owners of the country - to have a correct understanding of the national origin and to appreciate traditional values is very necessary.
Educating the young generation about the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day is not simply about introducing the festival to commemorate the Hung Kings, but also a way to help the young generation be proud of their roots and deeply aware of the responsibility to preserve and promote the precious cultural values of the nation in the context of globalization.
In the province, there are many relics worshiping Hung Kings and generals from the Hung King era, associated with the Hung King worship of the Vietnamese people. These are important heritages that contribute to educating the younger generation about the nation's origins.
On the occasion of the Hung Kings' death anniversary, propaganda work is promoted to raise awareness of the community in general and the young generation in particular about the sacred meaning of the Hung Temple festival and the cultural values of the Hung Kings' era.
The provincial Department of Education and Training has always effectively implemented educational programs associated with preserving the nation's traditional culture, especially History and Literature. Schools have increased the organization of many programs and extracurricular activities to educate the younger generation about the nation's origins, gratitude, and remembrance of the Hung Kings and ancestors who contributed to building and defending the country.
Joining in the jubilant atmosphere of the Hung Kings' death anniversary, Dong Tam B Kindergarten (Vinh Yen) organized many educational and extracurricular activities with the theme "Hung Temple Festival".
Teacher Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen, Principal of the school said: "To carry out the tasks of the school year, the school has developed an educational plan according to topics, by month, by week associated with the task of spreading and protecting the cultural and historical values of the nation.
For the topic “Hung Temple Festival”, teachers conduct lectures and guide children to participate in age-appropriate extracurricular activities to learn about the history and culture of the Hung King era, such as showing video clips about the Hung Temple Festival, the customs of wrapping Chung cakes, pounding Day cakes, playing folk games, etc. Children also experience making Banh Troi.
These activities not only help children understand the Hung Kings' death anniversary but also contribute to propagating, promoting, preserving and honoring the unique cultural values of the Hung Kings' era and the Hung Kings' worship; at the same time, educating children about gratitude for the Hung Kings' contributions to building and defending the country, pride in their origin as "children of the Dragon and grandchildren of the Fairy" and fostering in children a love for their homeland and country.
Every year, on the occasion of the Hung Kings' death anniversary, teachers and students of Yen Lac Secondary School (Yen Lac) gather to review the historical legend of the Hung Kings' founding and defending the country.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, Literature teacher at Yen Lac Secondary School, said: “In my lectures, I help students understand and be grateful to the Hung Kings for their contributions to building the country, teaching people to grow rice, and enlightening agriculture so that people could live in prosperity.
Along with that, I and the homeroom teachers coordinated with the school's Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Team to organize many extracurricular activities towards the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day such as retelling the legend of Lac Long Quan - Au Co, the story of banh chung and banh giay; organizing cultural and artistic activities, physical education and sports... to help students perfect their personalities with good qualities such as patriotism, solidarity, independence and awareness of protecting the Fatherland".
Nguyen Nhat Nam, a student at Yen Lac Secondary School, said: “Through the lectures of teachers and extracurricular activities of the school, I understand more and am grateful to the Hung Kings and the heroic sacrifices of generations of ancestors so that we can live in peace and happiness.
Besides, every year my parents take me to the Hung Temple Festival, experience the traditional culture of the Ancestor's Death Anniversary, I always respect history, am proud of my origin as a descendant of Lac and Hong, and see my responsibility to study hard, become a useful person for my family and society, contribute to implementing Uncle Ho's teachings "The Hung Kings have built the country/We, uncles and nephews, must work together to protect the country".
Organizing many commemorative activities and educational activities for the young generation about Hung Kings' Death Anniversary helps them understand and remember the country's historical and cultural traditions, while fostering patriotism, national pride, and awareness of protecting the precious values that their ancestors have worked hard to cultivate.
From there, create a young generation with courage, responsibility, solidarity, ideals, and aspirations to contribute to a prosperous Vinh Phuc, a prosperous Vietnam.
