Silver prices stabilized at the end of the weekend trading session after a sharp decline in the previous session. In addition, some analysts believe that this precious metal could challenge the 10-year high of nearly $35/ounce.
Still, some experts remain cautious about the rally, given the high volatility of the silver market and the fact that silver prices are unlikely to rise as much as gold in 2024. Spot silver is currently up 2% at $33 an ounce, with an intraday high of $33.41 an ounce. Silver previously hit a more than 10-year high of $34.87 an ounce on October 22, 2024.
Silver is both a precious and an industrial metal, and in 2024, it rose 21%. In just over a month of 2025, it rose 14%, thanks to the same factors as gold.
Specifically, silver futures prices on the US Comex floor have increased sharply due to concerns about a trade war, stemming from the US government's proposed import tariffs. Silver contracts for March delivery on Comex recently increased 3.3% to $33.79/ounce.
