Nearly 381,000 children received vitamin A supplements in the second phase of 2024.

According to statistics, the whole city has 380,944 children aged 6 - 35 months supplemented with vitamin A at 1,612 drinking points. The target is 99.8% of children receiving vitamin A supplements.

On the first day of the campaign, three monitoring teams from the Hanoi Department of Health inspected and supervised the implementation of the campaign to supplement vitamin A for children in 30 districts and towns.

On the morning of December 1, through inspection, the No. 1 monitoring team of the Hanoi Department of Health highly appreciated the work of planning, arranging adequate human resources, medical supplies, necessary conditions for taking vitamin A, and organizing thoughtful drinking points.

Hanoi organizes the second round of vitamin A supplementation for children.

The delegation noted the actual implementation of the campaign at vitamin A drinking points such as: Trau Quy Town Health Station (Gia Lam District), Ngoc Thuy Ward Health Station (Long Bien District) and Ly Thai To Ward Health Station (Hoan Kiem District). Thereby, the delegation also noted that vitamin A drinking points need to strictly ensure professional procedures, allocate the number of children to drink reasonably, by the hour, to avoid long waiting times.

At the drinking point of Trau Quy Town Health Station (Gia Lam District), realizing the importance of vitamin A supplementation for children, families have proactively arranged time for their children to drink on schedule.

Head of Trau Quy Town Health Station Pham Thi Quynh Thu said that in Gia Lam district, 13,429 children received vitamin A supplements at 107 drinking points. Of which, Trau Quy Town Health Station had 1,326 children receiving vitamin A supplements.

Ms. Do Thi Tram (group 18, Ngoc Thuy ward, Long Biet district) brought her 27-month-old child to take vitamin A at Ngoc Thuy ward health station and shared: "I was informed by the station's medical staff about the schedule for taking vitamin A, was warmly welcomed, the area for taking vitamin A and monitoring after taking it is clean and airy."

Long Bien District has 18,598 children receiving vitamin A supplements at 58 points during this period.

People bring their children to drink vitamin A in Hanoi.

Similarly, at the drinking point at Ly Thai To Ward Health Station (Hoan Kiem District), many families brought their children to drink vitamin A. Along with giving children vitamin A, the staff of the Ward Health Station also actively provided nutritional advice to mothers, caregivers, and child-rearing people. This time, with 21 drinking points, the entire Hoan Kiem District had 4,985 children drinking vitamin A.

During the campaign, the Hanoi health sector continued to closely monitor expertise and strengthen coordination with districts, towns and cities to ensure the campaign was highly effective and met the set goals.

Previously, in June 2024, Hanoi successfully organized the first Micronutrient Day campaign with nearly 382,000 children aged 6 - 35 months receiving vitamin A supplements and weighing, measuring, and assessing their nutritional status.
