Pepper price today, February 4, 2025, in the domestic market is stable in key localities, trading from 146,500 - 148,200 VND/kg.

Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 147,500 VND/kg.

Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (146,500 VND/kg); Dak Lak (148,200 VND/kg); Dak Nong (148,200 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (147,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (147,000 VND/kg).

Thus, pepper prices today remained stable in most key growing areas. The highest pepper price was at 148,200 VND/kg.

Global pepper prices in 2025 are expected to remain high due to reduced supply, while demand in major markets such as the United States and Europe remains stable. Pepper use in the food and spice processing industries remains the main driver of the market.

Many previous forecasts have said that in the next few years, global pepper production will still not be enough to meet consumer demand. Therefore, prices will start to increase sharply from 2024, helping this industry in Vietnam enter a new golden age.

“With the current situation, global pepper production cannot meet the increasing demand in the next 3-5 years. In our country, this strong grain is entering a new price increase cycle, making up for the years when prices were too low,” said Ms. Hoang Thi Lien - Chairwoman of VPSA.

According to Mr. Hoang Phuoc Binh - Vice President of Chu Se Pepper Association (Gia Lai), pepper prices always increase in cycles. For example, the previous price increase cycle started in 2010 and peaked in 2015.

After many years of “lying at rock bottom”, pepper prices gradually recovered until 2024, when a new price increase cycle begins. He predicts that this cycle will last for 10 years and prices may reach a new peak of 350,000-400,000 VND/kg - a super expensive level. However, prices will fluctuate, but in the long term, they will continue to increase.

He explained that pepper acreage is still decreasing due to aging and people switching to other crops. Meanwhile, if new planting is not done at this time, it will still be impossible to increase production in 4 years. Therefore, pepper will remain in a state of scarcity.

At the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper at 7,165 USD/ton, Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper at 6,150 USD/ton and Malaysian Kuching black pepper at 9,000 USD/ton.

Vietnam black pepper prices continued to move sideways at around 6,350 USD/ton for 500 g/l and 6,650 USD/ton for 550 g/l.

Compared to the end of last year, black pepper prices in Indonesia and Malaysia increased sharply by 4.5 - 5.9%, while Brazil and Vietnam witnessed a decrease of 0.7 - 2%.

At the same time of survey, the price of Indonesian Muntok white pepper stood at 9,672 USD/ton. Meanwhile, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained stable at 9,550 USD/ton and Malaysian ASTA white pepper was 11,600 USD/ton.

Since the beginning of the year, Indonesia's white pepper price has increased by 7.8%, Malaysia's by 8.4%, and Vietnam's by 0.5%.
