Dong Thap is witnessing the “rise” of a generation of young, enthusiastic and creative farmers. From the “support” of traditional agriculture, with a new and creative perspective, many young farmers have brought a “boost” to the agricultural economy of the land of lotus.
With a long-term vision and innovative entrepreneurial spirit, young farmers are becoming an important driving force, contributing to making Dong Thap one of the modern agricultural production centers of the Mekong Delta in the future.
Digitalization - the "key" for the rice industry to make a breakthrough
Born and raised in the fertile land of Tam Nong (Dong Thap), Mr. Le Quoc Trung - Director of Xag Mekong Company Limited, Tam Nong District, has always been concerned about increasing the value and sustainable development of his hometown's rice industry. With a passion for agriculture and a spirit of innovation, Mr. Trung has constantly sought modern solutions to apply to production.
In 2019, Mr. Le Quoc Trung decided to experiment with using drones in rice farming. Using drones to sow seeds, spray pesticides, and fertilize has brought unexpected results, helping to solve the problem of labor shortage and reduce production costs.
However, Mr. Trung realized that in order to improve product quality and meet increasingly stringent market requirements, a more comprehensive solution was needed. From there, he and his team researched and implemented a model of applying remote sensing aircraft technology combined with the use of artificial intelligence in rice production.

Regarding the development orientation of the enterprise, Mr. Le Quoc Trung shared: “The application of remote sensing technology and artificial intelligence to rice production is not only a trend but also an urgent solution to improve productivity and product quality. By collecting and analyzing a series of detailed data from the fields, we can comprehensively grasp the “health” status of rice plants, making accurate and timely farming decisions. This not only helps farmers save costs and time but also minimizes risks caused by pests and adverse weather. Moreover, the application of high technology contributes to environmental protection and ensures food safety, meeting the increasingly high demands of the consumer market.”
The story of Mr. Le Quoc Trung is not only the story of a farmer but also a story of innovation and creativity in agriculture. Through that, we can see that, by combining traditional farming with modern technology, we can create breakthroughs, contributing to bringing Vietnam's rice industry further into the international arena.
Overcoming “bottlenecks” with green solutions
In addition to rice, aquaculture is considered one of the strengths of Dong Thap province. However, with the impacts of climate change and traditional farming methods revealing many "bottlenecks" and increasingly demanding market demand, aquaculture has encountered many difficulties.
Understanding the hardships and difficulties of farmers in his hometown, in 2020, Mr. Nguyen Trung Tinh, representative of Alpha Amin Production - Trading Company Limited (Tan Hoi Trung commune, Cao Lanh district) and his colleagues began researching to find solutions to help frog farmers in Cao Lanh district and Thap Muoi district escape the "bottleneck" situation.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Tinh - representative of Alpha Amin Production - Trading Company Limited and his colleague - Ms. Le Thi Kim Thoa researched to find solutions to solve the "bottleneck" of the frog industry.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Tinh shared about his entrepreneurial journey: “When we delved into each link in the frog production value chain, we realized that there were many “bottlenecks” and barriers that prevented the frog industry from “taking off”. Specifically, in the livestock farming stage, farmers only knew how to produce based on traditional experience, the market was unclear and completely dependent on traders and wholesale markets. Export processing enterprises needed a large amount of clean antibiotic-free commercial frogs for processing and export, but could not find a stable supply from farmers. This was the main reason why the frog industry fell into a “bottleneck” situation like in the past. Therefore, to help farmers overcome difficulties and help factors in the production chain meet, we had to find a solution”.
In 2020, Mr. Nguyen Trung Tinh and his colleagues began researching the application of biotechnology to solve a number of problems in the frog farming process in Cao Lanh and Thap Muoi districts. At the end of 2022, the research team officially launched the Antibio X2 solution set to replace antibiotics and the BiO Gen1 product to treat the environment in aquaculture; and the Amin Pro fresh frog sausage product.
Ms. Le Thi Kim Thoa, who participated in the research project with Mr. Nguyen Trung Tinh, shared: “This project is not only an important link in the input supply chain for the aquaculture industry but also brings practical values to the community. By reducing pollution of the aquaculture water environment, the project facilitates water circulation and increases natural immunity for aquatic animals, making an important contribution to ensuring export standards for Vietnamese aquatic products.”
Alpha Amin Production - Trading Company Limited is cooperating with a number of farmers in Thap Muoi and Cao Lanh districts to build a closed frog farming and processing chain. Accordingly, frogs raised using the Antibio X2 solution to replace antibiotics and the company's BiO Gen1 product to treat the environment in aquaculture will be 100% consumed by export enterprises at a stable price. At the same time, to create more added value for the chain, the frog loin is processed into Amin Pro fresh frog sausage. Currently, the Amin Pro fresh frog sausage product has been approved by the Cao Lanh District OCOP Appraisal Council with a 3-star result.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Vu Minh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Thap, enterprises play a central role in building a complete and sustainable agricultural value chain in Dong Thap. Recently, Dong Thap has seen the emergence of many young farmers with innovative start-up models that have contributed to the strong development of Dong Thap's agricultural economy.
In the local economic development orientation, Dong Thap determined that enterprises will play the role of a “conductor”, leading and connecting all components in the value chain. Thanks to that, market information and customer requirements will be communicated quickly and accurately to farmers, helping them to proactively produce according to their needs.
In addition, the enterprise will be a bridge to bring Dong Thap agricultural products closer to consumers, through creating products with added value, diversity and meeting market tastes. Building a complete value chain not only helps increase production value and income for farmers but also contributes to promoting sustainable agricultural economic development.
Recently, in addition to promoting start-up models in the fields of logistics, processing and preserving agricultural products, young enterprises in Dong Thap have proactively sought and proposed creative solutions to build strong industry chains in a complete and sustainable direction. By identifying and solving each bottleneck in the production chain, these enterprises have actively contributed to increasing product value, shortening the supply chain and creating high-quality agricultural products, increasingly meeting market demand. Thanks to that, Dong Thap's agricultural economic model is gradually shifting towards a more modern and sustainable direction.
