Northern Electricity is ready to ensure power supply for the Lunar New Year 2024

To ensure safe, stable and reliable electricity supply to serve the political, social, production and business activities of localities and the living and entertainment needs of people in the northern provinces and cities during the 2024 Lunar New Year and the second phase of water supply for the 2024 Winter-Spring crop, the Northern Power Corporation has prepared plans to ensure electricity supply.

Accordingly, during the 2024 Lunar New Year (from February 8, 2024, the 29th day of the Lunar New Year to February 14, 2024, the 5th day of the Lunar New Year), the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) will not perform power outages on the grid, except in cases where it is necessary to cut off power to handle incidents. At the headquarters of the Corporation as well as 27 Northern provincial/municipal Power Companies, there will be increased leadership, 24/7 power operation and repair duties during the holidays. The Corporation has requested units to fully prepare materials, equipment, communication systems and means of transport, ready to quickly handle any incidents that arise.

For important locations such as the headquarters of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly, national defense, security, leadership agencies in provinces and cities, radio and television agencies at the central and local levels, hospitals, clean water production facilities will be specially guaranteed power supply plans, mobilizing backup generators to maintain electricity when necessary.

27 provincial/municipal power companies under EVNNPC have developed and implemented plans to ensure electricity for production and consumption, including plans to ensure electricity supply, ensure security, strengthen operational discipline, protect security, labor safety, and prevent fire and explosion. All units coordinate with local authorities, police, and military to develop and implement plans to protect security, order, safety, and prevent fire and explosion for power projects, agency headquarters, warehouses, etc.

Regarding the preparation work to ensure power supply before, during and after Tet, the representative of Ky Anh Power Company - Ha Tinh Power Company (EVNNPC) said that the unit has performed phase reversal of more than 50 transformer stations, replaced more than 37 poor quality transformers, replaced more than 9 km of poor quality low voltage lines, and completed energizing 8 transformer stations with a total capacity of 1,440 KVA to prevent overload in the area.

With the terrain being mainly mountainous, the power transmission lines mostly stretch across forested areas, Dien Bien Power Company said that it has also transferred and increased the capacity of transformers to suit the load demand of each area, ensuring that there is no overload during long holidays and Tet and that low voltage occurs in the management area. Before Tet, the Company has increased regular and surprise inspections of power lines and equipment to detect defects early so that timely solutions can be found, preventing incidents from occurring that cause unsafety to people and the power grid.

Ensuring stable power supply for all pumping stations in the Northern provinces

Regarding the work of ensuring electricity for pumping stations serving the second flood pumping of the 2024 Winter-Spring crop, which will take place in the Northern region for 4 days (from 0:00 on February 18 to 24:00 on February 21, 2024), based on the water discharge schedule of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) at hydroelectric reservoirs, EVNNPC has developed a plan to ensure stable power supply for all irrigation pumping stations in the Northern provinces, proactively coordinating closely with relevant departments, branches and sectors to implement the flood pumping plan with high efficiency.

Units in the area with pumping stations of the Northern Power Corporation have proactively inspected and repaired the power grid supplying water pumping stations; clearly understood the working schedules of the pumping stations, the local seasonal schedule, ensuring 24/24h operation of the power system to ensure the power supply for the key pumping stations and the readiness to receive water of the Irrigation Companies in some northern provinces such as Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Hung Yen...

Based on the 2024 Winter-Spring flood discharge schedule, Ha Nam Power Company will ensure electricity for 41 key pumping stations and field pumping stations; has developed a plan to supply electricity, maintain and repair additional power generation equipment before the start of water intake, ensuring safe and stable 24/7 power supply for pumping stations operating during the flood period. The Company has proactively worked with the agricultural sector and localities, Ha Nam Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited to agree on a reasonable power supply plan, prioritizing ensuring a stable power source for existing irrigation pumping stations and field pumping stations.

To ensure power supply for 357 pumping stations serving the 2023-2024 Winter-Spring rice crop, Vinh Phuc Electricity has also inspected and reviewed all 15 key pumping stations and 342 in-field pumping stations in the province; coordinated with the authorities to agree on a reasonable power supply plan, prioritizing ensuring a stable power source for irrigation pumping stations, especially large key pumping stations such as: Mong Cau, Ngoc Ha, Ba Cay, Cay Rua, Bach Hac, Dai Dinh pumping stations, etc.

In addition, Power Companies proactively and closely monitor relevant information on mass media to direct, operate, and ensure water supply for the 2023-2024 Winter-Spring rice crop.
