The works of gratitude

On March 25, the Dien Ban Martyrs Cemetery Upgrade and Repair Project was completed after nearly 2 years of construction. Mr. Nguyen Huu Hung (a resident of Thanh Quyt 5 block, Dien Thang Trung ward) could not hide his emotions when he came to pay his respects to his father who is resting at Dien Ban Martyrs Cemetery.

“Each grave here is a symbol of immortality, reminding us of the price of freedom and the responsibility of the living,” Mr. Hung confided.

Dien Ban Martyrs' Cemetery currently has 5,120 martyrs' graves, including 1,695 graves of unidentified martyrs, 124 graves of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and 39 graves of revolutionary veterans.

Mr. Hung acknowledged that the completion of the project upgrade on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the reunification of the homeland demonstrated the deep gratitude of the Party, State, local government and people for the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for national independence.

Dien Ban Town currently has 9 martyrs' cemeteries, most of which have been invested in and maintained to be spacious and clean. Towards the 50th anniversary of the liberation, since the end of 2024, the locality has allocated resources to renovate and upgrade many items of graves, monuments, ceremony grounds, fences, etc. at martyrs' cemeteries and memorial houses.

By the end of March 2025, 10 memorial projects had been upgraded and completed with a total cost of about 45 billion VND. These include the cemeteries of Dien Quang, Dien Trung, Dien Phong, Dien Tho communes; cemeteries of Dien Duong and Dien Nam Trung wards and monuments to heroic martyrs in Dien Tien commune, Dien Thang Trung ward, Dien Phuoc commune, and Dien Hoa commune.

Thereby demonstrating the morality of drinking water and remembering its source of today's generation towards the great sacrifices of heroic martyrs and heroic Vietnamese mothers.

Caring for policy families

During the two resistance wars against France and the US, Dien Ban was a locality that suffered much pain and loss with more than 35,000 people killed, 17,000 injured; 3,140 heroic Vietnamese mothers; 18,920 martyrs and thousands of wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and families with revolutionary contributions. Therefore, the work of gratitude has always been of interest to the town's departments and branches.
