Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam National University, announced the minimum score for the combined admission method based on multiple criteria on the morning of July 14.
Accordingly, candidates must have a score of 630/1,200 or higher on the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test, and a total score of 18 or higher on the high school graduation exam for all subjects in the combination and academic transcripts (average of three years of study) for the combination of three subjects. This requirement is similar to last year.
The school notes that candidates must achieve a score higher than or equal to the threshold for receiving applications for all three components to be eligible for admission. If candidates do not take the competency assessment exam or graduate from high school, the admissions board will consider using the high school graduation score instead (with a certain percentage) or vice versa.
The above components will account for 90% of the total admission score. The Admissions Council will decide how to convert between academic transcript scores, high school exam scores, and competency assessment scores as well as decide the weight based on the exam score spectrum.
The rest, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology considers the candidates' personal achievements and social activities, literature, sports and fine arts. In which, personal achievements include excellent student awards, science and technology awards, foreign languages, international certificates and other academic awards.

The admission method combines the test scores to assess capacity, high school graduation, academic records, and other capacities (certificates, awards) accounting for 60-90% of the total enrollment target (more than 5,000) of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. The rest, the school prioritizes admission according to the regulations of Ho Chi Minh City National University, direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, admission of candidates with international certificates or foreign candidates (only applicable to advanced English-taught programs), admission of candidates to international transfer programs (Australia, New Zealand).
Candidates need to register their wishes on the Ministry of Education and Training's admission system and add information on the school's information page by 5:00 p.m. on July 30.
Based on the Natural Science exam questions and the university admission situation in recent years, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Thang, Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, predicts that the combined benchmark scores of many majors of the school will decrease. Majors with few students such as Industrial Maintenance, Construction Engineering, Infrastructure, and Mechanics may have lower benchmark scores than last year.
"Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Logistics, Mechatronics, and Automotive Engineering are still very hot, but schools are expanding training so the benchmark scores may not increase," said Mr. Thang.
In 2022, the highest combined admission score of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is 75.99/100 for Computer Science.
