In the early days of spring, Kim Bong carpentry village is bustling with festivals (January 11 and 12). Every corner of the riverside is filled with the sounds of wood carving, bamboo carving, boat building, mat making, and basket weaving. Outside the river, there are a few boats taking tourists to enjoy the view and watch fishermen performing fishing.
According to Mr. Huynh Ngoc Hung - Chairman of Cam Kim Commune People's Committee, the major highlight maintained by the organizing committee at the village festival since the COVID-19 pandemic is the "plastic waste-free festival". At this year's festival, the reenactment of Kim Bong rural market was introduced to the public for the first time and was well received by locals and tourists.
Mr. Vo Phung - Vice President of Quang Nam Tourism Association, a consultant for the event, shared that it is expected to organize this activity periodically every month, promising to bring new tourism products, attract tourists and promote Cam Kim clean agricultural products to the Hoi An market and neighboring areas.
“The special thing about Kim Bong rural market is that it only uses environmentally friendly packaging and items, creating an old market space, bringing the experience of visiting and exploring Kim Bong countryside in the direction of green and sustainable development,” said Mr. Vo Phung.
When applying to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, Hoi An launched the initiative “Moc Kim Bong - Unleashing Creativity”. To materialize this, the local government has recently focused on investing in infrastructure, organizing tour guides, and developing community tourism models associated with ecological villages.
Tourism products and services have been innovated and created over time, along with the participation and contribution of the people, bringing a “new wind” to green tourism in Cam Kim. A series of green destinations associated with experiences in shipbuilding, mat making, noodle making, etc., have created a great impression on tourists who love to explore local values.
Ms. Pham Thi Cong - representative of a mat weaving household in the commune said that over the past time, the facility has constantly innovated to create more eye-catching products from sedge, suitable as souvenirs for tourists, and the facility's experience space also regularly welcomes visitors to visit and experience.
Mr. Dinh Van Loc - Director of Viet Da Tourism Joint Stock Company (Da Nang City) commented that Cam Kim tourism products have been impressively "renewed" recently. Some experiences here are really attractive, suitable for both Vietnamese and international visitors, the destinations in Cam Kim commune alone are enough to design an attractive day tour.
