On February 18, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the People's Committee of Phu Xuyen district to organize the contest "Excellent tray seedling production facility and transplanter operator in Hanoi in 2025". The contest had the participation of 12 teams from 10 districts including: Phu Xuyen, Thuong Tin, Ung Hoa, Quoc Oai, Thach That, Phuc Tho, Ba Vi, Soc Son, Me Linh and Dong Anh.

Farmers compete to be good at driving rice transplanters
Early morning of February 18, despite the cold and drizzly weather, members of 12 teams from 10 districts including Phu Xuyen, Thuong Tin, Ung Hoa, Quoc Oai, Thach That, Phuc Tho, Ba Vi, Soc Son, Me Linh and Dong Anh were present in full force to attend the "Festival" of the Capital's farmers.
Sharing with us, Mr. Nguyen Hung Cuong - Captain of Phu Hung General Agricultural Service Cooperative (Phu Xuyen district) said that although the unit has many years of experience in producing tray seedlings and operating modern transplanting machines, when they knew they were selected to participate in the competition, everyone felt very happy and excited.
According to Mr. Cuong, on average, Phu Hung Cooperative produces 150,000 - 170,000 seedling trays per crop, with the current number of transplanters being 11 large capacity machines (Kubota 6 CMD sit-down transplanter, 6 rows and 12 transplanters).
"To participate in this year's competition, we have prepared very carefully from sowing rice seedlings to carefully maintaining the transplanting machine, so everyone is very confident to win the highest score," Mr. Cuong affirmed.
Mr. Nguyen Binh Minh, Team Leader of Kubota Quoc Oai Tray Plating Center said: Coming to this year's competition, members of our team and other districts in the city not only have the opportunity to meet, exchange and share experiences in driving rice transplanters, but everyone also has access to more modern machinery and new technology applied to production to achieve higher efficiency.
"In recent years, thanks to the city's support policies and guidelines, farmers have had the opportunity to apply many modern machines to production such as tray transplanters, plows, spraying planes, fertilizer sprayers, and harvesters... helping to reduce many costs, increase productivity, and earn higher incomes than before," Mr. Minh added.

Actively support farmers to bring mechanization into production
As the leading district in Hanoi in implementing policies to support agricultural mechanization, from 2012 to present, Phu Xuyen's total support budget for the mechanization project in tray plating and machine planting of the district has reached tens of billions of VND.
In addition, the District People's Committee also supports households to apply machine transplanting at a rate of 75,000-100,000 VND/sao. By the end of 2024, the whole district will have 80 6-row transplanters, 100 4-row transplanters; the area planted by tray transplanters each crop is about 1,500 hectares.
Vice Chairman of Phu Xuyen District People's Committee Nguyen Trong Vinh said that after the competition, the district will continue to promote support for cooperatives in providing tray-planting and machine-planting services. At the same time, it will organize specialized training courses for users of machinery, equipment, techniques for using and repairing transplanters and seedling lines; coordinate with units and organizations to support farmers in accessing capital sources, techniques and advanced production models, contributing to the development of modern and sustainable agriculture.

Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Manh Phuong said that from the success of the "Excellent Machine Transplanter" Contest in 2024, in the spring crop of 2025, the Department continued to coordinate with the People's Committee of Phu Xuyen district to organize the Contest "Tray seedling production facility and excellent machine transplanter operator in Hanoi city in 2025" in Nam Phong commune, Phu Xuyen district (Hanoi).
"The contest is one of the very effective propaganda methods to help bring the policies of the Central and the city into production practice, contributing to changing farmers' production thinking; forming concentrated rice production areas and large-scale model fields. From there, creating conditions to attract businesses to join production, building agriculture in a modern, sustainable and integrated direction," Mr. Phuong affirmed.

After 1 year of implementing Resolution 08 (Resolution No. 08/2023/NQ-HDND dated July 4, 2023 of the Hanoi People's Council stipulating a number of policies to encourage agricultural development in Hanoi), the rate of mechanization in the planting stage in the city's districts has made a spectacular breakthrough, increasing the rate of mechanization in the whole city by 15% (while previously the rate of mechanization in the planting stage was only over 3%). Some districts have high growth rates such as My Duc increased by 19%; Phu Xuyen increased by 10%, Me Linh increased by 8%.
"Resolution 08 has been put into practice and received positive responses from people and cooperatives in the city. Thereby contributing to changing farmers' thinking, modernizing agriculture and rural areas, and promoting socio-economic development in the city," Mr. Phuong emphasized.
At the end of the contest "Tray seedling production facility and good rice transplanter operator in Hanoi city in 2025", the Organizing Committee awarded the Special Prize to Phu Hung General Agricultural Service Cooperative (Phu Xuyen district); First prize went to 2 teams: Tray seedling center of Quoc Oai district and Thuong Tin district; Second prize went to 3 teams: Lai Thuong commune (Thach That district), Me Linh Agricultural Trade and Service Cooperative (Me Linh district), Dao Thuc Cooperative (Dong Anh district); Third prize went to 3 teams: Phu Quy General Agricultural Cooperative (Ba Vi district), Nam Phong commune (Phu Xuyen district), Lien Ha Agricultural Service Cooperative (Dong Anh district); Encouragement Prize went to 3 teams: Lien Hiep Agricultural Service Cooperative (Phuc Tho district), Dong Tien commune (Ung Hoa district), Bac Phu Agricultural Service Cooperative (Soc Son district).
