By the end of 2024, Thai Nguyen had handed over and put into operation an additional 65.31km of road, exceeding the plan by 30.6%. The local transport infrastructure has been invested synchronously in the direction of linking and connecting with provinces in the region and the Hanoi capital region. This is the basis for the province to promote investment attraction, soon becoming an important growth pole of the Northern Midlands and Mountains region.

The construction progress of the Ring Road V of the Hanoi Capital region through Thai Nguyen province (the section from Phu Binh district to Bac Giang province) is being accelerated.
The construction progress of the Ring Road V of the Hanoi Capital region through Thai Nguyen province (the section from Phu Binh district to Bac Giang province) is being accelerated.

Speaking at the Conference on the implementation of the 2025 tasks of the provincial Department of Transport, Mr. Pham Quang Anh, Director of the Department of Transport, emphasized: The Department of Transport continues to determine to do a good job of advising the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee on investing in transport infrastructure in a synchronous manner, increasing regional connectivity. Specifically, in 2025, after completing the project of the connecting route connecting the provinces of Thai Nguyen - Bac Giang - Vinh Phuc, the Department will advise the province to continue investing in the connecting route connecting the two provinces of Thai Nguyen - Tuyen Quang (section from Km11+500 on Provincial Road 261 to the border of Tuyen Quang province) and Nui Coc Lake Road. Regarding external traffic, the province continues to propose that the Central Government invest in upgrading the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen expressway and the remaining sections on the Ring Road V of the Hanoi Capital Region, Ho Chi Minh Road Phase II through the province...

In 2024 - the pivotal year to implement the resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, closely following the province's goal of "Strengthening investment in synchronous development of infrastructure to create breakthrough driving forces for economic growth", the Department of Transport has actively and proactively performed well the work of advising, proposing policies and managing investment in transport projects.

During the year, the Department of Transport consulted with the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Provincial People's Council for approval of the investment policy of two projects: the road connecting the connecting route between Thai Nguyen - Bac Giang - Vinh Phuc provinces to Trieu Quang Phuc Street (Pho Yen City); the road connecting Bac Son Street to Thai Nguyen Provincial Sports Complex.

Up to now, the connecting route between Thai Nguyen - Bac Giang - Vinh Phuc provinces has been paved with asphalt concrete, reaching over 70% of the volume.

At the same time, advise on adjusting the investment policy of 3 projects, including: Ring Road I (section Bo Dau, Phu Luong - Hoa Thuong, Dong Hy) and the Hoa Thuong urban bypass, Dong Hy district; Investment project to build the road connecting provincial road (DT) 261 - DT.266; Project to build An Long bridge and the road connecting DT.270 with DT.261 in Dai Tu district.

Currently, the whole province has over 5,000km of roads, including over 200km of national highways and expressways paved with good quality asphalt concrete; over 1,300km of provincial and district roads paved with asphalt and over 3,000km of commune and ward roads ensuring convenient traffic.

In addition, the system of collector roads and roads connecting key industrial parks (IPs) with the external traffic system has been invested in a basic, synchronous and modern manner. The recent development of regional traffic infrastructure has opened up new opportunities for Thai Nguyen province in attracting investment, especially for FDI projects.

On January 23, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 223/QD-TTg adjusting the investment policy of the Song Cong II Industrial Park Infrastructure Construction Project (area of 250 hectares) in Song Cong City; the total adjusted investment is over VND 2,347 billion (an increase of over VND 589 billion).

Previously, on January 20, 2025, the Provincial Industrial Park Management Board held a ceremony to grant the investment registration certificate for the Yen Binh 3 Industrial Park Infrastructure Construction and Business Project to BMK Group Joint Stock Company. The project covers an area of over 295 hectares, with a total investment capital of over VND 4,139 billion. The project is located in Diem Thuy and Nga My communes (Phu Binh), along the Ring Road V section from Pho Yen City to Phu Binh District.

Along the Ring Road V, in 2024, the Provincial People's Committee decided to establish 4 new industrial clusters (ICs), including: Ha Chau 1, Ha Chau 2, Tan Duc and Luong Phu - Tan Duc. Along the connecting route, connecting the provinces of Thai Nguyen - Bac Giang - Vinh Phuc in Dai Tu district, the Quan Chu IC and Cat Ne - Ky Phu IC were formed. Thus, thanks to prior investment in traffic infrastructure, Thai Nguyen has attracted many investors in infrastructure of industrial parks and ICs.

With focused investment in traffic infrastructure, the northern vertical traffic routes have been formed in Thai Nguyen province: National Highway 3 Hanoi - Thai Nguyen - Bac Kan; National Highway 37 Bac Giang - Thai Nguyen - Tuyen Quang. The horizontal axis of Ho Chi Minh road and the western vertical axis connect the Bac Giang - Thai Nguyen - Vinh Phuc regions. These are vital routes, helping to connect and spread the industrial, agricultural, service and cultural values of Thai Nguyen to regions in the northern region.

In addition to the projects invested by the province, Thai Nguyen is coordinating with the Ministry of Transport to speed up the progress of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project, Cho Chu - Trung Son Intersection, Yen Son District (Tuyen Quang). The total length of the route is nearly 29km. In Dinh Hoa District, the route is about 11.5km long, passing through 5 communes and towns: Cho Chu, Phuc Chu, Dong Thinh, Dinh Bien and Bao Linh.

Dinh Hoa District People's Committee has closely coordinated with the investor in site clearance compensation and construction of resettlement areas to relocate affected households, ensuring project progress according to plan.

Mr. Ly Van Thang, Vice Chairman of Dinh Hoa District People's Committee, affirmed: The implementation of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Phase 2 - the dynamic route connecting the three provinces of Thai Nguyen - Bac Kan - Tuyen Quang helps Dinh Hoa promote trade between localities in the region, developing socio-economy. The completed route contributes to connecting the Ho Chi Minh Road from Pac Bo (Cao Bang) to Dat Mui, Ca Mau. The route also contributes to promoting the tourism development potential of the localities.

In fact, it can be affirmed that the breakthroughs in transport infrastructure have helped the appearance of Thai Nguyen province to have strong changes. That is the driving force for the locality to strive to soon become one of the modern industrial economic centers of the Northern Midlands and Mountains region and the Hanoi Capital region by 2030.
