List of rice export traders as of February 6, 2025

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, as of February 6, 2025, there are 158 rice export traders nationwide.

The Import-Export Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade has just announced the List of traders granted Certificates of eligibility for rice export business until February 6, 2025.

By locality, Ho Chi Minh City is currently the locality with the largest number of rice export traders in the country with 39 traders.

Next is Can Tho with 34 traders; Long An 20 traders; An Giang 15 traders; Dong Thap 14 traders.

Many localities have only one rice export trader, including: Bac Lieu, Binh Dinh, Da Nang, Ha Tinh, Hau Giang, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa.

The whole country currently has 158 rice export traders.

Previously, according to the list as of October 8, 2024, there were 157 rice export traders nationwide. Thus, according to the latest list, the number of rice export traders has increased by 1 enterprise.

Regarding rice export activities, according to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the estimated volume and value of rice exports in January 2025 reached 500 thousand tons and 308 million USD, an increase of 1% in volume but a decrease of 10.4% in value compared to the same period in 2024.

Notably, the current rice price is falling quite sharply compared to 2024. According to the Vietnam Food Association, the latest update on rice export prices shows that 5% broken rice on February 6 stood at 399 USD/ton, down 5 USD/ton compared to the previous day; 25% broken rice stood at 371 USD/ton, down 6 USD/ton compared to the previous day; 100% broken rice stood at 313 USD/ton, down 5 USD/ton compared to the previous day.

At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the fourth quarter of 2024 and meeting with press agencies on the occasion of the new year 2025 on January 7, 2025, Mr. Tran Thanh Hai - Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department informed that in 2024, our country achieved a record in rice export. For the whole year, our country exported 9.18 million tons, with a turnover of 5.75 billion USD, the highest figure ever. Rice export achieved a growth of 12% in volume and 23% in price.

Recently, Mr. Tran Thanh Hai said, Vietnamese enterprises have focused on improving rice quality and building a good rice brand, thereby finding traditional markets such as Indonesia, Philippines...

In terms of unit price, in 2024 our country will reach an average export unit price of 627 USD/ton (previously under 600 USD/ton), an increase of 9% over last year.

However, now that India has lifted its rice export restrictions, the abundance of Indian rice has created pressure on the market, causing rice prices to trend downward. The average export price of rice was previously up to 623 USD/ton, but now it is only 441 USD/ton. The decrease in rice prices is due to India reopening rice exports, along with the fact that some countries have achieved some food self-sufficiency.

At this stage, Mr. Tran Thanh Hai said that rice exporting enterprises need capital support from banks. In addition, the Ministry of Finance also needs to refund export tax early to create favorable conditions for rice exporting enterprises.

With the role of state management, in the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will step up the implementation of rice export promotion solutions to boost the export of this commodity.

In early 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade drafted and submitted to the Government Decree No. 01/2025/ND-CP dated January 1, 2025 amending Decree 107/2018/ND-CP on rice export business. The Decree is expected to help rice export activities improve.

Immediately afterwards, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a Draft Circular amending and supplementing a number of articles of Circular No. 30/2018/TT-BCT dated October 1, 2018 of the Minister of Industry and Trade detailing a number of articles of Decree No. 107/2018/ND-CP dated August 15, 2018 of the Government on rice export business to solicit comments from agencies, organizations and individuals.
