On the occasion of the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2023), on May 17, the Vietnamese Embassy in France coordinated with the authorities of Montreuil city in the suburbs of Paris to organize a flower offering ceremony at his statue in Montreau park.
Attending the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the National Committee for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Vietnam Ha Kim Ngoc; Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang; Ambassador - Head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to UNESCO Le Thi Hong Van, and representatives of Vietnamese agencies abroad.
On the French side, there was the presence of Ms. Djeneba Keita - Deputy Mayor of Montreuil city, Mr. Eric Lafon - Director of the Living History Museum - and a number of representatives of the city.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Mayor Djeneba Keita appreciated the presence of the Vietnamese delegation on the occasion of the 133rd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth, considering this a testament to the strong friendship between the city of Montreuil and Vietnam, which, according to her, is a "historic and fraternal" relationship.
She reviewed the important milestones of the 100-year friendship that has connected France and Vietnam, especially the founding of the French Communist Party with the participation of Uncle Ho, who later became President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
"President Ho Chi Minh actively contributed to fostering solidarity among French communists in the anti-colonial struggles," she affirmed, mentioning French friends such as Raymonde Dien, Henri Martin, Raymond Aubrac, Jean-Charles Nègre and many others who devoted themselves to the anti-war movement and promoted cooperation between France and Vietnam.
Ms. Djeneba Keita said she always has friendship for Vietnam and supports the work of promoting respect for international law and peace in the world.
In his speech, Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc expressed his honor and emotion when attending the event at Montreau Park, where there is a statue of President Ho Chi Minh and Ho Chi Minh Space in the Living History Museum.
Recalling the event 36 years ago, UNESCO issued Resolution No. 24C/18.65 honoring President Ho Chi Minh as a national liberation hero and outstanding cultural figure of Vietnam, expressing respect for President Ho Chi Minh's tireless efforts and contributions to peace, development and progress of the Vietnamese people and the world, Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc, who is also Chairman of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, emphasized: "Remembering him on the occasion of his birthday today, the eternal values that President Ho Chi Minh left behind shine even brighter, a great source of encouragement for us to unite and join hands to build a world of peace, progress, cooperation and friendship."
On this occasion, Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc expressed his thanks to the leaders of Montreuil city as well as the Montreau Park Management Board for creating favorable conditions to organize this important activity, thanked the city government and the Living History Museum for recently renovating the Ho Chi Minh Space as well as always caring for and preserving this space and his statue here as part of the city's cultural heritage, considering this a living testament to the special friendship between Montreuil and Vietnam as well as between the two countries.
He emphasized: "I believe that with the existing good friendship with Vietnam, Montreuil city will continue to make practical contributions to further promoting the Vietnam-France friendship in the coming time."
After the ceremony, the delegation of the Embassy and Vietnamese representative agencies in France visited Ho Chi Minh Space in the campus of the Living History Museum, which preserves many relics and documents about him.
Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc wrote in the museum's guestbook his feelings when revisiting this historical site./.
