Eco-industrial parks (EIPs) are managed industrial parks that promote cooperation between businesses and the community for the common benefit of economic, social and environmental efficiency. Developing eco-industrial parks (IZs) aims at sustainable development, carbon reduction, efficient use of resources and increased competitiveness and investment attractiveness.

The Eco-Industrial Park Feasibility Study Project continues the success of the pre-feasibility phase and continues to receive support from the World Bank, aiming to deploy the international standard EIP model in key industrial parks in the Bau Bang region, including Bau Bang Industrial Park, Bau Bang Expanded Industrial Park and Cay Truong Industrial Park. This model helps businesses develop in the direction of industrial symbiosis, optimize resources, reduce environmental impacts and increase economic value.

Overview of the Workshop

Within the framework of the research, experts will deploy 04 main components to build a roadmap for the development of ecological industrial parks in Binh Duong: Assess the current status of industrial parks and propose conversion solutions in accordance with international standards. Research wastewater treatment systems and water reuse to optimize water resources in production. Develop a sustainable energy supply model, including the application of solar energy and energy storage. Build an industrial symbiosis system, connecting businesses in industrial parks to take advantage of common resources and optimize the supply chain.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Bui Minh Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that the implementation of the feasibility study to implement the international framework ecological industrial park EIP 2.0 is completely consistent with the strategic goals of Binh Duong province in the provincial planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

According to the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Binh Duong has planned and oriented industrial parks to be invested in, developed more sustainably, effectively and with higher competitiveness. Applying the principles of eco-industrial parks helps reduce carbon emissions, optimize resource use and create an environmentally friendly industrial ecosystem. Moreover, EIPs help improve investors' competitiveness by supporting them to meet strict global environmental standards, thereby expanding opportunities to access international markets. This model is not only an orientation for new industrial parks but also an important transformation path for existing industrial parks.

Mr. Bui Minh Thanh expressed his belief that with technical support from the World Bank and related organizations and units, the project will pave the way for Binh Duong to become a pioneering locality in Vietnam in developing ecological industrial parks according to international standards.

Becamex IDC leaders affirmed that Becamex IDC always strongly supports the green transformation policy and ecological industrial development, and closely cooperates with international partners such as the World Bank to promote sustainable industrial solutions in Vietnam. This feasibility study is considered an important step in realizing the ecological industrial park model in Binh Duong, demonstrating Becamex's role in providing infrastructure, services and solutions to support investors in the direction of sustainable development. The implementation of the feasibility study not only helps Becamex and Binh Duong consolidate their pioneering position in green industry but also creates opportunities for businesses to access advanced technology, optimize production and improve competitiveness in the global market.
