Big fire in Ca Mau

At around 12 noon on April 10, a large forest fire broke out at Farm 402 (Logistics Department, Military Region 9, in Hamlet 6B, Khanh Binh Tay Commune, Tran Van Thoi District, Ca Mau Province).

Smoke billows high, authorities in Ca Mau province are urgently deploying synchronous measures to fight the forest fire.

By about 4:50 p.m., the fire had almost completely burned down about 20 hectares of forest on the farm and was spreading to the neighboring 90 hectares.

Authorities mobilized hundreds of people to fight the fire. But by 5 p.m., the fire was still raging and not yet under control.

Immediately upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police force, Ca Mau Provincial Police sent fire fighting vehicles to the scene to assist in extinguishing the fire.

However, the recent severe drought has caused some canals and streams in this area to run out of water, making fire fighting difficult.

Farm 402 is under the management of the Logistics Department of Military Region 9. The farm mainly grows cajuput, specializes in raising freshwater fish and agricultural production.

Faced with the above situation, Mr. Le Van Su, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, was also present at the scene of the fire to direct the coordination of forces to urgently put out the fire.

According to Mr. Ho Song Toan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tran Van Thoi district, there are 5 fire fighting teams at the scene.

At the location where he was, there were about 200 people serving the fire prevention and fighting work. However, the lack of water for fire fighting and strong winds made it very difficult to put out the fire.

Mr. Phan Hoang Vu, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ca Mau province, said: "We have directed functional forces to coordinate with local authorities to propagate and mobilize people living near the fire area to evacuate their belongings and assets to limit damage."

There are 5 fire brigades at the scene with about 200 people participating in fighting the fire.

Due to the impact of the hot weather, the water in the canals has dried up, making it difficult to fight forest fires.

After receiving the information, Mr. Le Van Su, Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee (striped shirt) quickly arrived at the scene to direct the forest fire fighting work.

The scene shows strong winds, the risk of widespread fire is very high.
