Improve the quality of medical examination and treatment

Health care for the people, especially ethnic minorities, is a regular activity. Despite many difficulties, Dak Nong has focused on investing in building, renovating and upgrading 7 district and city health centers and purchasing equipment for the Provincial General Hospital.

The system of commune health stations has also been invested in building facilities and equipment and meeting national criteria for commune health. The health facilities have basically ensured the tasks of medical examination and treatment according to the classification and have gradually developed high-tech services to improve the quality of health care for the people.

Doctor Nguyen Dang Trung, Director of Dak Mil District Medical Center, said: “Patients coming to the District Medical Center are mainly poor and ethnic minorities. Therefore, the unit always focuses on social security policies and always creates the best conditions for patients to feel secure during treatment. For ethnic minority patients who do not understand Vietnamese well, doctors always carefully explain slowly and thoroughly until they understand when they visit and treat them.”

Mr. Y Kenh, Thuan An commune (Dak Mil) said: “My wife had a vestibular disorder and unfortunately fell late at night. When she was taken to the hospital, the doctors and nurses at Dak Mil District Medical Center treated her wholeheartedly, so she is now much better. At the hospital, we also received support from the charity kitchen with porridge and rice for 3 meals a day, so we can rest assured to receive treatment.”

Ms. H'Ka in Dak Sak commune (Dak Mil) shared: "Thanks to the health insurance card, we, the people, enjoy benefits such as reduced costs when going to the hospital for examination and treatment. When I was hospitalized here, the doctors took care of me very attentively and warmly."

As of March 31, 2023, the province has issued 56,934 health insurance cards to ethnic minorities, helping them have more access to medical services and reduce medical examination and treatment costs. Payment of health insurance medical examination and treatment costs is also becoming more and more convenient. Ethnic minorities increasingly trust the quality of medical examination and treatment of local medical staff. In 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, the province had over 100,000 ethnic minority patients examined and treated with health insurance.

Focus on poverty reduction among ethnic minorities

Not only taking care of health, Dak Nong province also issued many specific programs, resolutions, and plans with appropriate goals and steps. In particular, poverty reduction in ethnic minority areas, shortening the development gap between ethnic groups; gradually reducing the number of particularly difficult areas to comprehensively develop Dak Nong is always a top priority.

According to Mr. Ngo Ngoc Khanh, Chairman of Dak Nia Commune People's Committee, Gia Nghia City, in recent times, the locality has always effectively promoted resources to support people, especially ethnic minorities in economic development and sustainable poverty reduction. Currently, the commune is focusing on 3 national target programs, supporting ethnic minorities to access loans for economic development, social security policies, multiple livelihoods to reduce poverty; developing community tourism... Many ethnic minorities have increased their income from traditional occupations such as brocade weaving, making rice wine...

Supplementing poverty reduction policies in the area, the People's Council of Dak Nong province issued Resolution No. 11/2022/NQ-HDTP on a number of policies to implement the goal of sustainable poverty reduction for the period 2023 - 2025.

In particular, regarding education, the province will support 150,000 VND/month for each ethnic minority student from near-poor households from kindergarten to high school, continuing education to buy books and school supplies. In addition, students who are members of households that have escaped poverty during this period will also be supported with 100-150 thousand VND/person/month.

Regarding housing, the province will support 20 million VND/near-poor household in need of a loan to build a house in the period of 2023 - 2025. Families residing in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions or single-parent households, disabled households, and ethnic minorities will receive an additional 10 million VND.

Resolution No. 23 of the Provincial People's Council in 2022 also allocated investment capital for the development of 3 national target programs for the period 2021 - 2025 in the province at 2,394 billion VND. Of which, the national target program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas is 1,136 billion VND. The national target program for sustainable poverty reduction is 502 billion VND. The national target program for new rural construction is 755 billion VND. From this capital source, localities have been effectively implementing, contributing to improving the lives of people in difficult areas, especially ethnic minorities.

With the synchronous implementation of many solutions, up to now, the province's poverty reduction work has achieved positive results. The poverty rate decreased from 19.26% in 2015 to 7.97% in 2022, of which, ethnic minority poor households decreased by 8.55%; local ethnic minorities decreased by 8.45%.

Preserving national cultural identity

Identifying culture as the solid spiritual foundation of society, Dak Nong province always pays attention to building and developing local culture. The whole province has organized many activities to restore, preserve and promote traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic groups.

That is to research, preserve and promote the cultural values ​​of brocade, festivals, gongs, folk musical instruments, epics, folk songs and traditional crafts, brocade weaving; restore nearly 50 traditional festivals of local ethnic minorities.

The effective implementation of ethnic work has made an important contribution to the overall development of the province over nearly 20 years of re-establishment. This is also the motivation and belief for ethnic minorities to join hands and unite to develop the economy, reduce poverty sustainably, and build an increasingly innovative homeland. Thereby, contributing to arousing the spirit of solidarity, self-reliance, self-reliance, emulation in labor production, building the great national unity bloc, and strengthening the people's trust in the Party and the State.
