Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Tran Phuoc Son - Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Da Nang City said that by 2030, with a vision to 2045, Da Nang will focus on developing into one of the major socio-economic centers of the country and Southeast Asia. Recently, in July 2024, the Vietnamese National Assembly passed a Resolution on implementing urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang City; including priority policies related to investment management; planning management, urban areas, resources, and environment; priority industries to attract strategic investors to the City; investment in developing semiconductor chips, artificial intelligence, information and communication, science and technology management, and innovation. And for the first time, the National Assembly allowed the pilot establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.

To achieve that goal, Da Nang focuses on attracting foreign direct investment, especially for the Australian market, in realizing the goals of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Currently, Da Nang City has established cooperative relations with 3 Australian localities: Queensland State, South Australia State, Gold Coast City. In the first 8 months of 2024, the total number of Australian visitors staying in Da Nang reached 71,445, accounting for nearly 2.4% of the total number of international visitors to Da Nang. Regarding investment and trade, there are about 15 enterprises with trade relations with Australia and 29 Australian FDI projects invested in Da Nang with an investment capital of 13.9 million USD.

Based on the existing good cooperative relationship, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Da Nang City Tran Phuoc Son hopes to invite more Sydney businesses in particular and Australia in general to learn about, invest in trade, tourism and living in Da Nang.

“We are committed to creating favorable conditions for Australian businesses to successfully implement investment and business projects in the city,” Mr. Tran Phuoc Son affirmed.
