The event aims to promote tourism development cooperation between Da Nang and Ahmedabad through Vietjet Air's direct flight connection, while also enhancing communication and promotion of the "Enjoy Da Nang's Multi-Experience" journey to Indian tourists.
The program was attended by the Consul General of Vietnam in India; representatives of Indian tourism associations including TAAI, TAFI, OTOAI, and GTAA; and over 100 guests from tourism businesses in Ahmedabad.
The Da Nang tourism promotion program in Ahmedabad includes various activities such as a business networking space, screening of promotional films about Da Nang tourism, information on direct flights between Ahmedabad and Da Nang, and information on tourism products and services of Da Nang, Vietnam.
A highlight of the cultural experience in the program is the performance of a traditional Ao Dai collection featuring Ms. Rhea Singha - Miss Universe India 2024.
According to a representative from the Da Nang City Tourism Promotion Center, with India identified as one of the most promising markets, Da Nang tourism is focusing on the tastes and experiences of tourists to make Da Nang a friendly and attractive destination for Indian visitors.
Since 2022, India has risen to become one of Da Nang's top 5 largest international tourist markets. It is estimated that one in two Indian tourists visiting Vietnam chooses Da Nang as their destination. Currently, Da Nang has more than 25 Indian restaurants.
Currently, Vietjet Air is the only airline operating direct flights between Da Nang and Ahmedabad with a frequency of 2 flights per week, significantly contributing to the growth of Indian tourists from Gujarat state. Since October 2024, there have been 75 flights between Da Nang and Ahmedabad and vice versa, carrying over 8,600 passengers.
In 2024, Da Nang welcomed over 222,000 Indian tourists (accounting for 5.3% of international visitors to Da Nang) and nearly 50% of the total number of Indian tourists to Vietnam (501,427).
Notably, compared to 2019, the peak period of tourism before the COVID-19 pandemic, the total number of Indian tourists visiting Da Nang has increased more than 13.5 times.
